Foo has a lovely menu, but the execution isn’t quite there. This is a modern Asian fusion food stand with room for about 8 people inside. Most people take food to go — we always took our things back to our hotel. It really is a smart menu — with items like Japanese Tuna Tataki with Soba Salad, Indian Saag Paneer, Chinese Beef & Broccoli, and Thai Red Curry — everyone is going to find something they like taste-wise. Throw in a couple specials and it’s quite a variety. Entrees average about $ 13. I really wanted to love Foo. We picked up food with our family of 6, some of our family went back during the same trip and then I returned a couple months later. Every time we went here — half the food would be pretty good — maybe really good, and then there’d be at least one item with problems. Execution errors & consistency are the problems — Tuna Tataki completely under seasoned, conversely the Tako Salad was overdressed. The Caramel Chicken was dried out one time, good the next. Thai Red Sauce might be flavourful one time, then really bland and totally different the next; same thing happened with the Butter Chicken. Russian Roulette at Foo. I’d feel bad if you read a glowing review from me and got a bad meal. I can’t wholeheartedly recommend them for that reason.

One of my favourite places for takeout! The caramel chicken is sticky-good and the beef and broccoli is always an easy go-to.

Foo offers some great local food. A fun menu with plenty of very unique selections. I highly recommend when you are in Victoria.

Gluey noodles still stuck in the shape of the package they came in… disappointing. Not going back.

Being featured in The Food Network channel’s You Gotta Eat Here, curiosity struck me — luckily, this place was just about a 4 minute walk from our hotel. The restaurant is small, probably fits about 10 – 12 diners, almost like a food truck with seats. We ordered the ff: Ground Pork Curry Sweet and Sour Pork Belly Pad Thai For the spicy food hunters, this place is for you. Very good fusion of Asian dishes but unfortunately, I can’t take the spices that much.

Came here for dinner and it was very good. Ordered takeout and it was relatively quick for the amount of people inside, which FYI is small and is counter seat in only with a few outside tables. Liked the open kitchen and the staff were very friendly. We ordered three dishes to share, the caramel chicken, Chana Dal, and the Ma Po Tofu. I really enjoyed the flavor and crispness of the chicken, it was a nice balance of sweet, salty, and tangy. It was delightfully crispy and served alongside a few vegetables. The chicken itself could have been more tender and cleaned a little better. The Ma Po Tofu was flavorful, but more of a dry style, not the saucy style, but still good. The Chana Dahl was very good, highly spiced and a good amount of heat. The chickpeas were nice and tender, as were the potatoes. Overall a very good meal, would be back again!

It is so hot inside and I can’t even stay in for more than 3 minutes. That takes away 2 stars.

3.5 stars. My food was pretty good, although it was a little on the bland side for me. It was vegan red coconut curry. I tried a nibble of my boyfriend’s order, which included what seemed like deep fried spicy brioche. It was delicious. I would go back there if I’m in the area again. It’s a good location, and the presentation was great considering it was labeled«street food».

After a long day of travelling around Victoria, this was a great find for dinner. It’s a little spot, almost hidden, but my god it is so good. We reached just before 10pm. Staff is really friendly, very casual and good music. We didn’t have to wait for too long for the food. I had yellow curry and my wife ordered pad-Thai noodles. The quantity and quality of food, go hand in hand here. It is really good. I hope they open a spot in Edmonton. We will come back for more.

We’re visiting from out of town and had dinner here tonight and it was delicious! We had the pork belly and beef and broccoli noodles. The broccoli/beef was made with this amazing black bean sauce. It was heavy on the basil and spice and super filling. The pork belly was hands down the best I’ve ever had. It was crispy without feeling heavy and had a sweet coating that almost felt like a savoury dessert. So so so sooooo good!

As good as it gets for Asian food in Victoria. Added bonus: old school reggae soundtrack.

The dinners here have become a staple for our on-the-go lifestyle. Well prepared, inexpensive, consistent dinners when we need them most. Highly recommended.

Wow! If I lived in Victoria this place would be a regular lunch spot and quick easy dinner go to place. Fresh, fresh, fresh and cooked right in front of you. The flavours were bold and incredible. Portion size very good. Staff were a lot of fun to watch and chat with while waiting for you meal.

Heyyo, this place surprised me a lot! The food quality is amazing! If I was wearing one right now? It would be tipped towards the chefs. The food was delicious, the presentation was neat and the wait was short too! The seating is limited inside with no tables, just pull up chairs but the outside porch had a long chair and pull up chairs as well. The porch is not covered so just keep this in mind on rainy days. The parking is also decent and this place even had an open wifi network that worked decently as well! I will definitely be visiting this place in the future. Don’t let the little building fool you, the quality of food that they make is just as good as any fancy restaurant without nearly as big of a dent on the wallet.

Really like this place. If you are looking for a fast Asian meal I would recommend the place. Portions are good, tasty, for a good price. One thing I didn’t like though. In my opinion the Thai red curry is a bit too watery. I prefer it a bit creamier.

I’m giving 2 stars which is generous but allowing for a very wide berth due to the fact that i went in on new years eve around 3 p.m. In the afternoon. I was really hungry and wanted something to fill me up before new years eve and have leftovers for breakfast. So the carmel chicken rice bowl was appealing. I think this is a dish that has a great potential but what i ended up with was very dry old twice fried chicken sitting on a ½ cup of rice in a lot of hoisin sugar sauce(where was the caramelisation exactly?) with less than 1 tablespoon of old wilted bok choy. And yes there is a difference between old wilted bok choy and cooked bok choy that has wilted down. Now i don’t mind paying a fair price for good food but this was way over priced considering the lack of veg and maaaybe 4 $ worth of ingredients. And that there is no table service and you are expected to clear your own dishes made it offputting that an 11 $ serving didn’t have enough for leftovers. As a small but picky note, would have been great to have a hot water beverage option. It was s fridgit day and the last thing i wanted was a beer that the friendly but preoccupied with his eve. to conrserver was pushing. Place has great potential but the prices are too high for a self serve, in and out kind of place

Very expensive for a self serve in-n-out place. Great for takeouts. Could have been 30% cheaper. They charge sit down equivalent prices. Beef Broccoli Noodles with Black bean were very mildly flavored, unlike authentic Chinese tastes. Pad Thai was also off on authenticity.

So I had the wonderful Lemon Grass Chicken dish. This tasty chicken is served over, what seemed to be, fresh stir-fried rice noodles. In a spicy sauce with a hint of peanuts and subtle Chile notes. The noodle bowl is finished with scallions, peanuts and cilantro. Awesome portion size for $ 12. The Foo has about 10 bar seats inside and about 20 seats on there street side patio. So not great for a sir down meal. But perfect for that person looking for a quick delicious bite to eat. One thing I would have loved was a cool beer with the wonderful good. All around great appeal. Will definitely be back.

If you seek pretty darn good food, made quickly, for a decent price and that can be obtained on a week night at 9−10pm? This folks — is your place. I’ve been wanting to try this spot for awhile, but for whatever reason, keep missing it. Enter post-event exhaustion coma and a quick dinner needed. I popped in here at about 9:50pm on a Monday night. Call me old fashioned, but I still get surprised when I can find food in Victoria after 9:30pm. I got the caramel chicken and pork belly ramen soup to go. The ramen soup? I wouldn’t have it again. The pork belly was cooked well but the broth just didn’t jive with me at all. In fact, i’m glad I ordered a second dish or else this would be a very different review. But the caramel chicken — oh my goodness — the caramel chicken. The caramel chicken saved the day. It’s a great, «I just had the longest day ever and just want to face plant in fast food, except I know that will make me feel sick, so i’m desperately seeking an alternative that is slightly healthier but still curbs the craving» dish. It’s fried well and damn tasty. I would have liked extra veggies and know to ask for such next time. The woman behind the till mentioned that it was the most popular and I understand why — that chicken alone will have me coming back. So for fast but slightly better for you food? This haunt is a good staple. Just tread carefully and ask the staff for recommendations.
