Some of the best tasting food in Victoria. The burritos are a regular treat for us. Take out and eat in. Cash only.

Nice family run place serving delicious locally sourced El Salvadorian food. I had the beef enchiladas to go and they were packed with flavour. As other reviews mentioned, for better or worse, this small restaurant is run by a family that focuses on small batch, local cooking. As a result, the hours will change and service will be limited. But they are friendly and there is live music at times to help liven up the place. Cash only. 4 stars as it is a little bit pricey compared to what I was used to in Vancouver. But it is justified, in my opinion, as they are holding true to serving locally sourced meats, veggies, etc. Also most authentic Latin food in Victoria that I have tried so far.

Went there twice, walked inside, no one was around. We waited, called out and no one came… two separate times. Not too mention it is NEVER open and when it is apparently no one is there.

For those of you who love Hernande’z downtown you’ll be happy to know they’ve opened a small eatery on Bay. The restaurant while still under renovation is open for business with a cash only policy but I see that changing in the future since the sign outside says«still cash only» For those Americans coming up with no Canadian dollars, no worries they will accept your US currency. The restaurant is a holler at the counter your order(they may be in the kitchen) and then sit to eat or carry out. Your food is brought to your tables and we were served a nice array of chips and spicy salsa. It was a pureed salsa and just a little goes a long way. I do want to say again that it is spicy and I have a pretty good tolerance. This is not to say too spicy but maybe for children. This is a quick serve or fast casual restaurant with a sit-down feel. The price points are low and the portions are large. Three of us had the hurrachas — nice thick corn tortilla(think pita bread for lack of better description) with a nice layer of beans, meat(I had pork, the others had chicken and then some salsa, sour cream, lettuce and maybe some rice. It’s a flavor explosion. $ 8.95 The other two people in our party ordered the burritos. One got chicken and the other pork. They were both equally impressed with the flavor combination and while most places wouldn’t serve lettuce inside a burrito, these wonderfully fresh ones included the super size spinach shaped leaves. My true thoughts on the place are: 1. If you’re not looking for ambiance it’s great 2. If table service is not a requirement but you want to feel like you ate a restaurant versus fast food, it’s great. 3. If you’re looking for alcoholic beverages with your meal, it’s great. 4. If you’ve got cash, it’s perfect! 5. If you want extreme flavor at a low price point it’s fantastic!
