I am so thankful that Pic A Flic has managed to survive, and hopefully even thrive, in a world of Netflix, torrents and iTunes. Their prices are affordable ($ 5 for an overnight rental), the staff are knowledgeable and helpful, the selection is fantastic, and I often experience the sheer serendipitous joy of stumbling upon a hidden gem while browsing the shelves that I have yet to feel scanning a list of titles available online.

Can’t find that classic favorite? Love cult movies? Foreign film buff? Like to follow the norm and rent the latest release? Pic A Flic has it all. The shelves are crammed with practically every movie made from A to Z. The shelves are so packed it is often difficult to choose. I pick what I feel like browsing based on my first four questions while I’m still in the parking lot. It’s the only way to survive the plethora of choices. And about that parking lot, be patient folks, any Victorian will tell you Cook St Village doesn’t have a lot of parking.
