So I was really looking forward to trying this place as the reviews I read were pretty good. So tonight I went in to try it. I went with the ½ pound pulled pork, and for my two sides I went with the beans and cornbread. Price was average for this, 13 bucks and the service was good especially since your ordering at the counter. Food came up quick cuz it’s BBQ! The pulled pork was tender and had plenty of BBQ sauce on top. I chose the beans because I love baked beans. Especially with that smokey flavor snd usually bits of leftover brisket. Well these beans didn’t have any brisket and really didn’t have a smokey flavour. Almost a twang of sweet and sour, which I didn’t like. So didn’t eat the beans. Cornbread was dry and flat tasting… that must be the reason they give small containers of honey! Which I’ve never had to use. So final opinion, it was merely an «ok» dining experience. Probably won’t be back.

We stopped in for a quick snack, and oh man the fried mac and cheese bites are so, SO good!

The food is good, the prices are low, and it is a satisfying place to eat. The mac and cheese cubes are great. While not the best barbecue in Victoria, it is a great spot to eat at the price. It isn’t as good as Hank’s, but it has more seating and is more affordable.

The fried chicken was among the best I’ve had. Good Poutine. Smoky pulled pork. Not expensive. Don’t have to go to Texas or whatever. If you want barbecue, this is as good as you can expect in the Northwest.

Have seen poutine on all the Food Network Shows and thought I’d order the pulled pork poutine during my visit to Victoria. Well, I am not a fan. It was a large serving for only a ½ order. I honestly tried to eat it and like it, but just think that maybe it was the icky gravy that spoiled it for me. I tried dousing it with their BBQ sauce but that didn’t do the trick. The coleslaw was good and then I washed it down with Ice water which is always refreshing. I would try another food item on the menu. The man behind the counter was most pleasant with the customers.

Consistently good. I’ve never had a bad meal here. We took a group of 10 people from work and we had 7 – 8 different meals in the group… Everything was really good

More of a 3.5 star rating. Went late at night for happy hour so it was a better deal because I would not have gone for the regular prices. Service was really good and they were helpful. There is some good beer that you can order with your meal. I was able to try the chicken wings and the pulled pork sandwich with a beer. Both the food was average and just okay. They have bottles of sauces on the side that you can use if you want more sauce. The buffalo wings were good but I would have liked it more spicy. BBQ wings was good but had to use more of their sauce. Pulled pork sandwich was mediocre. The meat was tender but the bun wasn’t a good fit for me. Sauce was definitely the better part of this meal. And don’t forget the beer! Interior is funky but in a cool way. There is a nice décor hanging from the ceiling and the restaurant and shaped in a curve. Seating is pretty tight and not too much room. There are some good points to this place but I wouldn’t bother unless you go for happy hour.

The boy and I came here for lunch once a couple of years ago. I was impressed by their bbq pulled pork sandwich. I will definitely come back one of these days when I’m in Victoria again. You know a place is good when you think about it years later.

I’ve eaten here many times. Can’t say I’m impressed. It exists because there is basically no good BBQ in this city. Honestly, I feel like every time I pick up food here I’m disappointed. It’s very expensive for quality, taste etc. As another commenter noted, their wings absolutely suck. Never get them The other stuff is better, but still not great.

This review is for Westshore Village Shopping Centre location — somehow not in Unilocal? Excellent BBQ pork — lightly spiced, good mix of pulled and chunky pieces. BBQ sauce on the side is good — more spice than the pork by itself, tangy, not sugary. The pulled port poutine is good. We drive from Saanich to Westshore to get Pig. Worth it every time. On my previous order there was a bit of a mix up, I mentioned it on my last visit, the staff went above and beyond to fix it. First class service and great food. Ps. Downtown location is also great.

Probably some of the lowest quality wings I’ve had in Victoria. I recognize that they are not known for their wings, however these salty, dry, tasteless creations did little to satisfy. I ordered honey garlic and it did not taste like honey garlic at all. Also I ordered fries and they kind of had a fishy aftertaste, so I’m not sure what that’s about. If you’re looking for beef brisket it is no longer on the menu due to high prices and it may not return, and in all likelihood neither will I.

I ate here over a year ago and was so impressed. It was recommended by one of the local chefs and he was right on the money with his rave review of their pulled pork sandwich. I took my family there and told them about my great experience and so we all arrived hungry and excited only to get a very basic fried chicken which seemed slightly undercooked and a very mediocre poutine. The pulled pork sandwich which is their signature dish came out the opposite of what I first experienced as it was dry, bland and slathered in an overpowering sauce that was not very delicious. Oh well, I guess a lot can happen in a year.

I was very excited to finally get to try Pig when I went to Victoria, I’m a huge fan of barbeque and southern style food. Wow, was I disappointed. The brisket was incredibly dry and overly smokey. Despite having the consistency of smoked wood chips there were big pieces with squishy flavourless fat. There was some sauce sprinkled on the meat, which tasted horrible on the first taste, slowly grew on me and left me with a bad taste in my mouth at the end.

Decided to try Pig for two reasons: 1) saw it on TV2) it’s located less than a minute from where I’m staying. Had the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw. Lots of pork on the bun. Not a sweet BBQ sauce(which I prefer), but a vinegar based one. Coated the bun, but not the pork — found it to be a bit dry, as a result. The coleslaw was good, especially when added to the sandwich. Definitely needed more than the one napkin I grabbed!

Had lunch here as a great review was on TV. It was ok. Brisket was good and the baked beans were tasty. I guess we can say we’ve been here and done that.

Rates a solid«meh». Pulled pork sandwich buns are abysmal — thin, stale, they soak up a TON of grease and within minutes you have a grease sponge on your hands. I’m not a BBQ expert by any means, but I’ve had way better BBQ at random greasy spoons in the southern USA. I don’t get why people are so excited over Pig(probably because there isn’t any other decent BBQ in Victoria to compare it to). The sauce was greasy rather than flavourful, and had barely any smokiness or richness. I’ve had bottled BBQ sauce from the grocery store that was more exciting. Fried mac & cheese is good, but it’s hard to screw that up. :-)

We came here for Poutine specifically and it happened to be 7 $ pulled pork poutine Monday — uh winning! A hop circle IPA on tap and Poutine set us back 13 $. Craziness. The beer was perfect and the poutine… well let’s just say I get it now! Also the portion was huge, we ordered one to share and didn’t even finish it. Poutine in general did not sound completely appealing to me but when in Rome, right? It was the perfect combo of artery clogging awesomeness. Not your everyday meal that’s for sure. I can’t speak for the rest of the menu. This review is for the pulled pork poutine only.

Craving an afternoon snack after watching the host of some Canadian Food Network programming called«You’ve Got To Eat Here!» chowing down on barbecue, I knew where I had to go to satisfy that barbecue craving. «One pulled pork sandwich to go please!» Yes. And it was good.

After our sushi lunch, bf and I decided to take out an order of pulled pork poutine from Pig BBQ Joint. Although Seattle has poutine, I wanted to try it in Canada, as it is a Canadian specialty. I must say, it definitely did not disappoint! The pulled pork was tender and flavorful and it went very well with the gravy and chunks of cheese curds on top of crispy, thick cut fries. I usually like fries plain with only salt and I do not enjoy chili cheese fries because I feel like they ruin the fries. However, I enjoyed the flavors of the pulled pork, gravy, and cheese so much that I didn’t mind that the fries were getting soggy. So, it’s not just us Americans who come up with artery clogging goodness; the Canadians do it too. Canadian bacon is a joke, but they have redeemed themselves with poutine. ;)
