One of the most prominent findings of walking around Quebec City are 1) this place is drop dead gorgeous, and 2) holy crap do they have a lot of statues and monuments all over the area! This one is located in a small park down hill from the Château Frontenac. George-Étienne Cartier was a statesman and politician. He was an important figure in Canadian history, because he was instrumental in the negotiations to bring French speaking Quebec into the Canadian confederation in the 1860’s. The monument has a simple stone base with a statue of it’s subject on the base. It’s one of the more restrained monuments I’ve seen around town
