My wife and I arrived in KW late this evening and decided to head out and grab some supper. Upon seeing Crabby Joe’s she suggested we try it knowing I had eaten at the chain before and enjoyed it.
Upon arriving it was a nice and clean environment if not a little loud, but the Jays were playing so that’s pretty typical and to be expected.
Everything was fine until I noticed from my vantage point, which looked into the kitchen, the cook bite his finger nail and spit it out.
Our server arrived immediately after and asked if we were ready to order. I explained that we were not and as a result of what I had just witnessed would not be dining there tonight. To her credit she looked horrified and apologized immediately.
We left, never to return.

Had fish and chips. Pretty standard for traditional North American bar fare in food quality, taste and price.
Service times were also on par with other similar establishments.

The first thing I was greeted entering was the owner telling me that I can’t bring my orange juice into the restaurant. It wasn’t like I wasn’t going to order any drinks, in fact I was planning ordering a drink or two. After he told me I could leave my drink outside which really upset whenever I came to this place before I would order a lot with my bf. After this ordeal I would never come back again.

The deals are good — some of the $ 5 martinis on Fridays are alright, paired with half-price appetizers (that I usually end up sharing) after nine, it’s a really cheap alternative to other places in Waterloo.
Service is sometimes a little slow, but I’ve never had a huge issue with it. Once I went with two other people; one of my friends left early and paid for her bill, but when the second bill came for me and the other person, it still had her items on it. I didn’t realize until after I’d paid (by credit card) and the server didn’t know how to fix it, so she just refunded me cash.
All in all I’d definitely go again, because it’s cheap and quiet enough to hear the people around you and I’m a sucker for their loaded cheese fries (and the crayons…). If you want a cheap place out and are willing to sacrifice some quality, Crabby Joe’s is for you.

They’ve got some pretty sweet deals, like 40 cent wings and half off appetizers past 9 pm, but unfortunately the service as mentioned by other reviews is quite sluggish. On the bright side, the booths are provided with crayons so they can exhaust their creative energies while they wait for food!

Service is slow on a slow night, go for a game and you can forget about getting your meals within the hour. Even just a beer is tough some days. Do not recommend.
