Nachos — not too tasty as appetizers, don’t recommend Grilled Cheese and Mushroom Quesadilla — It was an acquired taste… but it was a decent vegetarian option Churros — I got it with dulce de leche. Really good. So good. Atmosphere was fun, friendly. They have a communal table which they give you the option to sit at if they’re running out of table space, which happens easily on a Friday night…

If you enjoy being ignored by hipster wannabe wait staff and having overpriced tacos, this is the place to be!

The meal was extremely expensive and overrated. The meal started with a complimentary bowl of nacho chips, that were over salted. Over salted to a point of almost stinging the mouth with the copious amount of salt. I ordered the taco platter with the farmhouse chorizo, smoked beef, and smoked pork belly, and shared with someone else. The problem in the meats was very apparent. They were either extremely bland(smoked beef), extremely salty(farmhouse chorizo), or extremely tough(smoked pork belly). To top it off, the meats were room temperature borderline cold when arriving at the table and I was a bit surprised at the lack of freshness in the preparation of the meats. The condiments that came with the taco platter were decent, where it had guac, corn salsa, pineapple salsa, etc. As well, they had their fresh corn tortillas to eat the tacos. It cost $ 33 for two people, and at almost $ 17 for a person in the meal, it seemed a bit steep.

This was so amazing for me. I’m from Austin, TX and finding good tacos here has been really depressing. I had the shrimp and pork belly tacos and they were amazing. A little small, but I can deal. Great homemade chips and salsa, and I had to buy a dozen tortillas before I left. I can’t wait to go again. :)

Besides the fact that they make EVERYTHING in house, Taco Farm brings farm to table but with a Mexican flair. Great cocktails and wine, awesome specials and the best fried chicken in the world are just some of the reasons I always pop in when in the neighbourhood. It’s open all day and great for all occasions. Real food from real chefs and real farms. Couldn’t ask for a better spot!

At Taco Farm they don’t try to be authentically Mexican, but their soft shell tacos filled with seasoned fresh meat get them pretty close. The atmosphere’s youthful and upbeat. After you have the pork belly taco here, the memory will make your mouth water every time you drive by. The carnitas taco is also quite yummy.

Taco Farm was OK, not amazing. I felt it was a little pricey for lunch, even though I was expensing the lunch to my employer. We ordered tacos, you probably need to order 3 for it to be a full meal. If we had wanted to just have something light and a drink, it might have been a better match. Staff was friendly enough and the music was good. Tacos were fine.

Been past this place a couple of times and saw that it was always buzzing with customers. We decided to try this place out a few days ago and saw firsthand why this place is so busy! They boast a menu that supports local farms and serves only food made in house or from local sources. They also make their own non-GMO tortillas fresh everyday. I ordered 2 tacos: Smoked pork belly — with pineapple-habanero smoked pork belly with pineapple salsa with chunks of pineapple; and Camaron — Grilled shrimp taco with creamy chipotle and avocado. The tortillas themselves are quite small, but they are PACKED with toppings(enough to fill 2 – 3 additional tacos). I highly suggest you order extra tortillas on the side to catch the fallout… For the smoked pork belly taco, make sure you are ok with eating fatty pork. The menu warned«full fat» cuts of pork, but I found it to be more like 50%. I would say it’s similar to eating a half inch thick slab of bacon — in terms of fat content. The tartness of the pineapple and salsa perfectly cuts through the fat, making it taste less greasy. With that said, this is quite the messy taco. Eat with caution. Fat was dripping all over, the tortilla was soaked and ripped. If I had to rate this taco alone i would give it a 3⁄5. The shrimp taco was much better. The shrimp was fresh and grilled and seasoned to perfection. The menu said that this taco would be spicy, but I found it to be quite mild with just a little kick(I’m a baby with spicy food so you shouldn’t have any problems). Each taco comes with 5 whole shrimp. Again, I recommend splitting this up among 2 – 3 tortillas. I would rate this 5⁄5! Overall, the tacos are quite good. I ordered 2 tacos but ended up eating 4 just by splitting the contents. I would definitely go back for another round of shrimp tacos. This fast food style joint gives the illusion of fast and cheap eats. However, since the portion sizes are on the smaller side, it ends up being pricier.

I was in the Waterloo area and a client suggested I check out Taco Farm for lunch. To be honest, with the name, I was expecting some kind of new walk-up fast food restaurant. I’m so glad it wasn’t. While this is a sit down restaurant, it is bright inside with lots of windows and lively music playing. Perfect for lunch. The service was quick, but we took a while to order because we didnt know what to pick! The waitress told us the popular options. The chips and salsa were very yummy. This is such a good feature anywhere you can find it. I ordered the mushroom and cheese quesadilla and the pulled pork taco. I really should have ordered 2 of the pulled pork because it was SO amazingly good. I loved the toppings on it and the flavour was awesome. The quesadilla wasn’t too bad. I liked the mole sauce on top but it was a veggie option and it sure didn’t have the pow that the pulled pork had. I’d love to return here for a legit meal instead of a quick bite. There’s a ton of stuff on the menu I’d love to try and the atmosphere was fun and funky without being too hipster. Nice job!

Delicious tacos with flavours that work harmoniously. Each taco is around $ 5 so it tends to be a pretty pricy dinner when you eat 3 – 4. Though I won’t be visiting frequently, it’s nice to have tacos once in a while!

This is a great restaurant that has such a lovely relaxing vibe. I go pretty often and usually order 2 tacos, my favourite are«carnita» and the«fish» one. Yesterday, I decided to change it up a little and ordered their special, which was the tostadas. The meat was so good and so soft and well cooked! I was so surprised, and it tasted absolutely wonderful with the pickled red cabbage.(I have a picture of it) The salad with the dish was also really yummy. I finished the plate, and licked it clean I love what the company stands for, which, if you read the menu properly, they tell you how they are local and lovers of the community: «As TACOFARMERS we support small, local farms. We stock our shelves the same way we do at home, with foods we feel safe & proud to serve to our own families. If you’re curious about where your food comes from, and you should be, please ask us. We make everything in house, or rather, on the FARM! If you ate it here we made it — from our famous tortillas to our infamous hot sauces, ice creams, bar mixes & infusions. We truly live the HOUSEMADE philosophy!» Our waitress was really nice and made sure we had a good time

Even though I’ve never been to a taco place before, I had certain expectations before going in. We started off with an appetizer which was the Fries Supreme that had an overpowering salsa taste and no flavour, way too much cheese as well. It appeared all smothered together in a rush and little thought was put into presentation. For the main course, I ordered a special of the day which was a dish that came with 2 shrimp and bacon tacos with mustard /mayo sauce and a side of jambalaya. The portions were very small for the price that I paid. Again, the jambalaya had an over powering taste of salsa and was pretty tasteless. Overall, the meal wasn’t that exciting and seemed something I can make at home.

Food made fresh to order. The in house made chips are delicious and I could eat just those. The guacamole is good but boring, nothing earth shattering. They only do corn shells, and I prefer flour. I tried it when it first opened and again recently and it’s improved drastically. Drinks are too sweet and all involve orange juice it seems. Casual attire for sure. Good lunch spot. Menu is kind of confusing, so get your server to explain it to you. Save room for dessert — churros! That part is worth it.

Tacos were small for their price but they were delicious. Three tacos came out to about $ 15, and I still think it was a fairly small portion for a full meal. I highly recommend the smoked beef, smoked pork belly tacos and shrimp tacos. They were all really rich in flavour with every bite. Their complimentary chips and salsa were also amazing. My friend even bought a bag of chips from the restaurant to go because they were so good.

I’ve heard a lot of hype about this place since moving to Waterloo, and after trying it last week, I can say it’s definitely worth the hype. The tacos seem a bit pricey at $ 4 – 6 each, especially when you see how small the tortillas are. But they are loaded with meat making two tacos actually pretty filling(this is coming from a girl wth a big appetite). I had the carnitas and the gringo taco and would happily order both again. The avocado salad is also a really tasty starter!

It’s a good place but it’s definitely overhyped. I originally went here back in 2014 and again this past week to see if things were different. I confirmed that they weren’t. I found the menu to be pretty overpriced for the quantity and type of food you are getting. I’ve tried about 5 of the different tacos and nothing really stood out. Oddly, i found the veggie taco to be better than some of the meat ones(which is rare). The fried chicken is supposed to be one of the go-to dishes here but its literally just fried chicken with sauce. Again, nothing unique here at all. Overall, I just don’t see the value in this place.

This place had me at the word«taco». But when I learned they had a «build your own taco platter» I was pretty stoked. Their vegetarian platter options included refried beans, plantains and smoked mushrooms. I ordered all three and what ensued afterwards can only be described as a heavenly taco coma. Everything, including their tortillas, is made in-house. Can’t wait to return to this spot the next time I’m in Waterloo!

Not really liking this place the same way as the friend who brought me here. The taste of the taco was average for me. I find the tortillas to be too small to contain all of the content, so when you eat the fillings keep on dropping out and you get liquid dripping down your arm. Not a great scene to watch!!! I would only recommend going to this place with close friends who you don’t mind looking awkward in front of. Everybody looks a little gross when they eat, so DONOT conduct serious business or bring first dates here.

Very good authentic Mexican food, the corn tortillas are made in house. I usually always go for the trio of tacos, can’t resist. They have a good selection of tap beer, local brews included. The atmosphere is trendy & generally hosts a younger 30 – 40 crowd. The food was great, I will be dining here again.

Great Mexican restaurant in Waterloo, and it’s far more than just tacos. To start, they’ll bring your table some complimentary chips and salsa, which is a major plus with me. Some Mexican restaurants don’t do this, but the nicer ones do. The chips are also freshly fried in house it appears. Also, when we ran out they offered to bring us more, which I kindly accepted. My girlfriend ordered the tortilla soup, at a reasonable 6 dollars. I tasted it a bit, and I have to say that it was flavourful, and perfect for a winter’s day. When I’m here next, I will definitely consider ordering this over some tacos. I ordered a couple of tacos to try out. I got the pork belly one which was recommended, and was definitely the better of the two. Though it was messy to eat.(not that I really care, but you might) The other taco I had was the beef taco. The beef had a great texture, and was moist, but it lacked a lot of flavour. I used the hot sauces on only the beef taco, and it still wasn’t as flavourful as the pork belly. Also, I thought the pumpkin seeds were gonna be roasted and crispy. But the seeds were soft and really just melded into the taco and didn’t add anything except visual appeal. The star of the show, and what I would assume is their signature dish because it was that good was the fried chicken. This is definitely worth ordering. You get 3 pieces for 10 bucks. But I believe it was a rib attached with a wing, a breast, and a thigh. The skin and batter was fried perfectly and was extra crispy. And it’s tossed in a lovely combination of honey, tequila, lime, and black pepper. It’s also garnished with cilantro and green onions. I would definitely order this again the next time I’m back, and I think that could be in the near future.
