If you’re into horseback riding and the great outdoors, you’ll want to be sure to check out Boulderwood Stables. Boulderwood is located approximately 45 minutes outside of Halifax, near the Mount Uniacke area. When you arrive, you’ll see a big red barn and a white house. The owner, James, will be quick to greet you along with some of his staff and pets. They’ll ask you to sign a safety waiver and provide you with a helmet and any other equipment you need, and quickly get you saddled up into the horses. The trail lasts abouts 1 hour as one of the staff members guides the trail ride through the woods and one follows at the back. Most of the ride will be slow paced, allowing you to take in the scenery, with the occasion trot or canter. I have been to Boulderwood on several times, and can honestly say for ~$ 30, it’s well worth the money and everyone always has a great time. It’s especially nice to go in the fall when the leaves are changing colours. We’ re also looking forward to doing a winter trail-ride in the snow. Overall, always a great experience and I’d highly recommend others to check it out.
