Taso’s Pizza Steak & Seafood

This has to be one of the best pizza places I have ever had. Too bad it is closed due to a fire. I hope it opens again.

This restaurant experienced a fire, apparently during the morning hours of October 29^th, 2012.
Story from the NorthShore News, October 29^th, 2012:

Went on July 2^nd with my young nephew. A quiet evening with not many guests in the restaurant. I had asked the waitress about the Groupon voucher I had which was valid until 10PM that night. She sneared that that voucher had expired and walked away. I though «ok…whatever…still wanted to have dinner with my nephew». I just wanted to double check and pulled up the voucher on my phone to show her and she did not even look at it but got very loud and defensive. She would not even consider to double check or even look at the voucher. Terribly rude! She ranted on about how busy it was LAST WEEK?! and was getting louder and louder. She walked away. We sat there a moment shocked. There could have been perfectly good explanation for a misunderstanding with Groupon, I get that… I have been in the hospitality industry for many years. Whatever… we got up and walked out. Spent $ 80 for some great Thai food across the street.
They might want to think about cleaning the place as well.

This is my favorite West Van pizza joint! The pizza is truly Italian with layers of meat and cheese on a hand tossed dough base.
The décor is dated, but I love it. It reminds me of my childhood. And if you hate it, they do takeaway.
Try the Hawaiian pizza.

If you don’t expect much eat here. I had the meat lasgana and their was hardly any meat and very little cheese. The garlic bread was just hopeless. The service was mediocore.

Taso’s has been a cornerstone in West Vancouver since the 1970’s.
It is now 35+ years later and what has changed? Well NOTHING!
Taso’s is not a place to go when you are looking for a Gourmet Meal — you won’t find it! If you go with reasonable expectations — you will be satisfied.
Here are the things to have at TASO’s:
Meat Lasagna
Pizza
Salad with Italian House Dressing
That’s it! For these items 4 STARS!
The Greek Food — is average at best! and I wouldn’t be daring and try many other items. Trust the basics ONLY!
The restaurant is not very busy — most of their business is take out or delivery! This place has a loyal following (old people and families)
Bottom Line — If you are trapped in the 1970’s, still driving around in your 1976 AMC Gremlin or your Datsun B210 and playing your Eight Track Player — this place is worth a try!

Take a trip back to 1977. Wonderful food, especially Greek and pizza, huge portions. and nice to see the same staff for the 15 years or so I have been coming here. A warm and friendly affair. Newly renovated but still old school. Taso’s pizza is our local favourite and it comes heavy with toppings. Excellent crust. Nobody else comes close. When dining in, we order the outstanding roast lamb or Grecian back ribs. Good view of Ambleside from the second storey windows. About my rating… I added one star to counter Claudia’s two-​star review. Taso’s is a solid four-​star establishment.
