I’ve always wanted to try the cakes from Temper Pasty, but the location is a bit inaccessible for me since I live in the very south end of Richmond. Luckily for me, somebody from work brought in a large Mango Caramel cake the other day, which is exactly the flavour that I have been craving to try! Since everybody at my firm is quite skinny and health conscious, I actually ended up eating 2 slices for breakfast because it was just that good! Even though the cake is heavily layered with chocolate, caramel, and mango purée, it wasn’t too overwhelmingly sweet as you think it would be. Everybody enjoyed it very much and I do wish to visit the shop in person someday.

This pastry place is so elegant and delicious. It is perfect for catching up over a treat with friends or a cozy date. It is also kid friendly. The prices reflect the excellent quality and the rich flavors allow for the smaller presentation to be just the right amount of sweet. The beautiful cakes and mini pies are light and the pie crusts are crispy. There is a small patio with umbrellas and they serve nice coffee to pair with their baked goods and chocolate. Reminds me if Thomas Haas in some ways and that is compliment. If you like cheese cake and lemon or lime tarts then try this place. I didn’t have a chance to try their chocolates on their own but they looked really intriguing and now I have an excuse to go back! There is street parking all around to allow for easy access.

They were out of their infamous double baked almond croissant so went for the chocolate/almond croissant. Flaky and flavourful– definitely up there with other great croissants from bakeries such as Thomas Haas and Beaucoup. Granted though, this croissant also broke the $ 5 barrier at $ 5.50. Also tried the hazelnut praline cake– this one was tasty! Crispy wafer-like layers between hazelnut filling. Not too sweet either. Yum!

Temper Pastry West Vancouver is a chocolatier and patisserie in the Dundarave neighborhood. White marble, cement and wood frame this quaint European style café. While the location is a tad far at times for us, it makes for a good drive and little getaway from the city. Aside from pastries, macarons and other baked goodies, Temper also offers a selection of savory sandwiches and soups. The perfect cute lunch spot! Almond Croissant: Flaky, crunchy, soft and tender center of a double almond croissant pairs perfectly with a hot Americano. Coconut Lime Tart: A good sweet to tart balance. Soft and creamy albeit the bottom crust was too hard. There are so many good pastries in Vancouver. We are so spoiled.

Nice location. I like the atmosphere. They have high end interior with fancy desserts. I had a cheese danish which was very tasty and worth the $ 4. Would recommend it for a lounging afternoon with friends or family.

One of the hidden gems near Dungrave Park. It is a hipster café that is larger populated by the surrounding locals. It isn’t about having the best coffee for the area which they do but rather it is about the community they seem to bring together with the locals. Lots of seating inside, enough to enjoy the sunny days we have been having. A fair assortments of coffee eats. Service was fast and the prices were very reasonable. I’ve been here twice so far when I saw some concerts at Ambleside Park last year.

The student has surpassed the master. There is no better double almond croissant in the city. Thomas Hass is good but this guy is great in fact I like his parties better than what I’ve had at Thomas Keller’s Bouchon. They are tips in my books. Highly recommended jewel of a pastry and chocolate shop.

This place is delicious! I just want to go back and keep trying more stuff. Excellent coffee, croissants, and chocolates. I still want to try the other pastries and sandwiches. Nice room. Friendly service.

Temper was the one place that I vowed to try if I ever found myself in the West Vancouver area, and I am happy to say that it did not disappoint! The store itself was very clean and quaint, and the overall atmosphere was cheerful. The patio area was packed, as it was a sunny day. The service was great! I asked for recommendations and the lady pointed out the Mango and Caramel as a must try, and boy was she ever right! It was scrumptious! It was such a unique flavour and the blend of mango and creamy dark chocolate was heavenly! It was great paired with the café latte, as the coffee balanced out the sweet taste. Along with this dessert, I took home an almond croissant, a coconut chocolate croissant, and the cheese croissant and all were equally enjoyable. The croissant was perfectly flaky and the coconut chocolate croissant was definitely a highlight. It tasted like a macaroon-croissant hybrid, and the chocolate packed even more yummy sweetness. If I am ever in the neighbourhood, I will most definitely stop by again to pick up some sweet treats!

Horrible service. There was no line-up yet we stood in line staring at the lady at the cash chatting away with another coworker for about 2 minutes before she looked at us. While we were waiting for our order, a toddler accidentally knocked off and smashed one of the beer bottles that was displayed on the cash register(they really shouldn’t be displaying large beer bottles on the cash register in the first place!). The man holding the toddler apologized and said he would pay for the broken beer. The beer bottle was smashed to pieces and was all over the floor. NOT one single staff at this establishment asked the man holding the toddler if he was okay. In fact, not one person working here said anything to the effect of «don’t worry about it» or «no problem». The look on the female cashier’s face was even worse — she looked very annoyed and was extremely rude. Myself and another customer were appalled at the service received by this man and we felt compelled to ask the man if he was okay and tell him not to worry about the mess because they can clean it up and what’s more important is that he is okay. From the looks of it, his shoes were wet and small pieces of glass went on his shoes and legs. The staff there made him feel uncomfortable about the accident which just goes to show how they run this place. The man was charged for the bottle his toddler accidentally broke. It would’ve gone a long way had the staff there handled this in a totally different way instead of showing lack of service, interest and concern for the customer. Will not be back. Ever.

Stopped here for morning coffee and breakfast. Way too over priced. Understand this is west van and the rent is high but $ 12 – 15 for a sandwich is a bit pushing it. The macchiato was a bit flat and the beans strong. The pastries though are amazing.

Great great great. Saw some negative reviews, and wanted to address them: Re service: I’ve been here about twenty times, and have had good experiences. They’ve never messed up my order. I’m fussy, and staff vary between«neutral» and«friendly» when I ask for my pastry to be heated, for instance, but they always do it and are never negative. Re croissants: I’ve been searching for the best croissant in the city for months – been to so many specialty patisseries, and Temper wins, for me. You need to get it heated, though, if you’re not in, first thing. SO buttery, but not greasy, and quite a bit of yeasty tang, but not too much – just… perfect. The owner was working at his laptop, near the back one day, and I interrupted him to compliment him on the croissants. He happily answered my questions about his background(used to be head chef for Thomas Haas), how they did it and how many test batches they went through perfecting the croissant recipe. I think they spend more time and money on their croissants than anywhere in the city. Next time I went back he remembered me, and made a point of swinging by to shake my hand and wish me happy Easter. He seems like a great guy. I appreciated it. Chocolate-orange cookies are great. Desserts are great. Chai lattés are great. Patio is great. So happy this place exists.

Just had their almond croissant and my wife had the chocolate almond one. They were superb! This is a great place to come on a Sunday morning as you can then walk off all those calories on the seawall. We have tried just about every fine bakery in the city. Temper ranks in our top 5.

Everyone has been raving about this place for his«amazing croissants,» and in my opinion… Meh. The croissants were good, but they weren’t anything spectacular. I could find the same quality and taste for croissants at any old bakery. They didn’t have anything special, just some sandwiches and chocolate. Not much selection at all. I expected more for all the hype they were getting. Also, it was expensive. Not crazy expensive, but expensive for just average baked goods. Their stuff was good, but I definitely wouldn’t come back just because the price is unreasonable for the products they sell.

Coconut croissants stayed crispy for two days — croissants usually are listless shit after a few hours. I suspect they used glue but my tastebuds were like, no glue here dad. Friend brought them to the house, didn’t have to go to West Vancouver, hence the super strong 5 stars. As my aunt always said, «once you go west, you’re stuck until after 6 and god damn you’ll be bored and depressed.»

My boss highly recommended their croissants, so I made the trip over the bridge last weekend. While I can’t say their croissants are worth the drive, I will say their chocolates are! Their one-bite liquid caramels are DIVINE, as are their passion fruit caramels. To me, a croissant is meant to have a crust that shatters, and a buttery rich inside. This croissant had neither. To be fair, I got it at 3 pm, and I’m sure it was sitting out all day… but I don’t think that’s an excuse. At Thomas Haas’, they bake them throughout the day, so your chances of having a freshly baked croissant are good. It had potential, but failed in the final result. My friend had a pain au raisin that he was ambivalent about. The coffee was from Stumptown, and was very good. All in all, I think that if I were in the area, I would stop by for some chocolates and a coffee, but would give their pastries a miss.
