Wenzler’s Landing was my husband’s travel find, for an overnight stay in Wheatley, Ontario — and what a great find it was! Debra and Gary have a lovely home on a very quiet, dead end road. It is very peaceful and private, but with so many comforts. Neighbor Marissa greeted us and showed us around — there was a split of red wine and two glasses waiting for us. We had some time to relax before heading out to the Saturday Songwriter’s show. Deb greeted us when we arrived later, and asked what we would like for breakfast, and what time. Whatever we wanted — really! Of course, we both froze and said«Oh, anything…» So Deb suggested Eggs Benedict. Who could say no to that? One of my husband’s favorites! She said coffee would be ready by 7, and we could eat at 9. Fantastic — we’ve never had that level of customer service, and we’ve stayed at a number of lovely places. We had a great night’s sleep and woke up to fresh coffee and the local paper. Delicious smells filled the house and we chatted with Deb and Gary as she worked in the kitchen. There was a basket of the yummiest banana-peanut butter-chocolate muffins fresh out of the oven to tide us over until the breakfast proper. We were served in the formal dining room with a plated meal of 2 eggs and home fries, and orange juice. Everything was very tasty and perfectly prepared. Wenzler’s would be a great place for a small gathering — there’s an outbuilding that would be a great place for a party, or casual small wedding. They have so much to offer!
