I ended up here because the restaurant I actually wanted to go to was closed.(2 blocks away) and I’m glad I did. The food, service and location were all great. Nice little place across from the water.

I went to Moby Dicks today and the fish portion was VERY small. There were quite a few chips, but I do like fish. It was also very soggy on the bottom side next to the chips. Disappointing.

My absolute favourite place for fish&chips. The fish is moist, batter is crunchy, chips are golden, best place in WhiteRock. Décor is pretty cool; not much room inside; nice patio.

Classic fish and chips! Worth the wait. When people try to compare the fry colour to McDonald’s «golden» colour they are delusional. The fries are the die for and the service is great. Keep it up team :)

My kids inhale the fish & chips here! It is huge in portion and very reasonable in price. If you are looking for out of this world fish & chips– this place is a must!

There was a long line up here so we assumed it must be good. Well it wasn’t that great. The batter on the fish was very thick, and everything was very dark and greasy. Not light and crispy the way good fish and chips should be. My friends and I did a taste test where half of us went to Coney Island and their food was so much better! We know where we’ll all go next time!

Excellent! The fish pieces are huge and cooked perfectly. They are almost always busy every weekend but they know how to keep the line moving. If you are only around White Rock for 1 day this is the place you should go.

I went here with my wife and in-laws so they can have fish in chips. The problem is, they all loved the fish and chips, but I don’t touch the stuff. So, I ordered a burger, and it was really nasty. If you don’t like fish and chips, there is nothing here for you.

We were seated right away, food came fast and was delicious. The only thing a bit confusing is that when you order 1 piece of fish, you are actually getting 2. When you order 2 pieces of fish, you are actually getting 3 and so on. The server told us it was a tradition going back years but it was a tad confusing. But the fish was great.

Terrible service and terrible fish! I thought with the high rating it would be great but we were very disappointed. The onion rings that came w/my nephews kids dish were decent. Fries were soggy but edible. But the fish had a thick thick layer of almost raw batter. Even if the fish were good I wouldn’t return after the poor attitude we rec’d. The young waitress was very nice but the blonde lady in her 50’s that ‘helped’ us take our order was just an ornery ol women. I’m not sure if she was the owner or manager but just awful customer service skills. My sister went in to purchase a bottle of water after we rec’d our meals & she may as well have thrown it at her. Just plain rude.

Honestly the food was extremely bland. I don’t understand the rest of these reviews. It’s nothing special and it’s extremely pricey for what you get. They accidentally gave me double our order accidentally though and that was the only plus I can find from this restaurant. Also there are many people waiting in line for this mediocre takeout.

Went in looking for fish n chips, but walked out with fish n chips swimming in oil. It didn’t help that I was overcharged(didnt realize it until I’d walked to the pier with my food). Service was preetty poor too. There are a ton of other fish n chip places along the strip… will definitely be trying other places :(

Went here a few weeks ago because someone told me it was the best fish and chips in the Lower Mainland area and while it did not disappoint I think we may have caught them on an off day. There was a lineup outside, not uncommon for this place, and we put our name down to be seated inside. We didn’t have to wait very long, maybe 15 minutes max. They seemed fairly organized at getting people in the door, but once we were inside the place was so packed that the waitress forgot us for almost half an hour. Once we finally flagged down a waitress and got our food, everything was great. The batter on the fish was excellent and the fries were really good. I would definitely give this place another try! Might use the takeout window next time instead.

I’m sorry, too much hype for this place. I had the worst service ever. Walked in the restaurant and there was a line up at the counter. Nobody greeted us as well. So we were kinda lost because it was our fist time there. We had to line up just to put our names down. Since we were the 3rd one on the list, we patiently wait outside. 1st party was being called, and the 2nd party was called out as well. So we were suppose to be next. We saw an empty table for 2 while we were waiting outside and we were starting to wait for our turn impatiently. After half and hour or more, Hallelujah! We were called, and guess what, being seated at that empty spot. Servers weren’t attentive at all. And all they serve is just one kind of fish. No Halibut, cod or salmon. Nobody came to check up on us at all. Totally understandable because they were so busy but the servers were also slow. Fries were burnt. Very disappointed. Definitely wouldn’t come back again.

Over rated. Too long a lineup. Food is very very greasy. Used to be good. Could barely finish it as it was saturated in grease. My daughter got an upset stomach after. Easily the worst fish and chips I’ve had in a while.

While spending a couple days in Surrey, we asked folks, «Where can we go to get the BEST Fish & Chips?» Nine-out-of-ten of them responded, «Moby Dick’s.» And I can see why! We were told to either get there early or expect to wait in line and eat it on the beach. I had no clue what that meant, but we were determined to try this. We did get there early and were able to sit down and enjoy a great fish & chips dinner. The fish portions are HUGE! The crust was crispy, flavorful and not greasy. The fries were good, but it’s that fish that’s the seller. Service was a little slow but I quickly attribute that to how unbelievably busy they got within minutes of our arrival. Before we could even finish ordering, a line was forming at their take-out window and quickly went down the sidewalk. Yet, we looked at other places when we walked around later and NONE of them have NEAR the waiting line. That’s how good Moby Dick’s is. This is going to be a regular stop for us whenever we’re in Vancouver for any length of time.

If you ever near White Rock. It’s worth spending the time to get your fish and chips here. One of the top 10 places I’ve had fish and chips. Also walking around the area, I noticed everyone else grab their fish and chips from here, so how could many people be wrong? The pieces of fish are really big, and you’ll have to wait a little while for it to come, but once it comes you can walk across the street to the beach and enjoy your meal.

Fantastic fish and chips — beyond excellent. We went here for my birthday on a Sunday at 3pm and had to wait a few minutes — it’s super popular but definitely well worth it! Perfectly portioned fish and chips, friendly staff, unlimited homemade tartar sauce and a free birthday shot! It may have become a birthday tradition. Incredible and delicious.

Long waits but patience pays off. I’ve tried to come here on a number of occasions but the line and waits has always scared me away. Especially of a nice sunny day the line can be 1 – 1.5 hours long. Until we figured out that the long line you see is for take out! On a nice day everyone wants to take there fish and chips and eat on the beach, who wants to seat indoors when it’s sunny out, funny enough we do! So I checked the wait for dine in, 15 – 20 minutes!!! What??? So we switched lines. The restaurant itself is not big, has 5 tables in the patio, maybe another 15 tables inside. We were in, faster than the people in the take out line were moving. We were sat in the patio, which was nice! Ok the reason for coming Fish & Chips!!! 1 pc fish and chips is actually 2 pc fish and chips. Bonus! The fish was great I assume this is why people wait. Great batter not too thick nice crisp to it, well cooked, and the best part the fish is not dry!!! Still moist and tender on the inside. The chips are nice in house made. We also ordered fried calamari it was good, I think you cant go wrong with deep fried here. The portions are great! Oh wait I almost forgot about the house made tartar sauce, oh so good!!! The price was very decent, for a touristy spot. I’ve tried 3 other fish and chips in the street and now I know why people will wait to get fish and chips here.

A solid choice for fish and chips near the water. The service is friendly, the restaurant is quaint with a cute little patio and the portions are huge. The fish is never soggy and the pieces are always large. The line can be a little long for both dine in and take out but it is well worth the wait
