Stopped in to buy some fresh berries and wound up buying a lot more. Seems to be a common thread with people around here. This is a combination Mediterranean deli, butcher, produce market and nursery all in one. The deli has a wide assortment of Italian, Greek, Mexican and other ethnic foods so don’t shop here when you’re hungry or you’ll buy way too much yummy foods. The butcher carries good quality meats at affordable prices, which is always nice. The produce market carries a wide selection of goods, but not all are local and the quality can vary, so pay attention. And the selection of plants and flowers available is very impressive. Check it out!

Windsorites know that this is the place to go for City Chicken. If you aren’t from Windsor(or parts of Michigan) and don’t know what City Chicken is, it’s chunks of breaded, seasoned pork on a skewer(you can also order mix of veal and pork). We order it by the kilogram to take back to London to share with friends. It freezes well. Fred’s version is exceptionally tasty and reasonably priced. They also sell classic local products, such as TBQ sauces(which are now called Valerie’s because she is the daughter of the TBQ founders). They have a wonderful bakery selection, loads of fun snacks, a huge deli counter, butcher meats, staples(such as pasta and canned tomatoes) and every manner of produce. Outside, they have potted plants, small trees and herbs. In the autumn my Dad always buys pumpkins for me here. Always fair prices. Plenty of free parking. Friendly service.

My main problem with freds is that the ‘fresh’ produce often is not, within a day or two it is moldy and fouled. If it is nearing the end of its shelf life then sell it as such, dont charge full pop for spoiled food. Most is ok but you have to really watch what you buy or you just throw it out the day after you buy it. I think fred buys the stuff that reputable grocers pass on.

Lovely organic grocery store. Small quaint and friendly. Fresh butcher meats like kabobs and Greek pork burgers. Homemade guacamole salsa!!! The El sabroso guacachip are to die for… way better than doritos.

My favorite market in town by far(sorry Remark). Excellent selection of local produce at a very fair price. They are not afraid to package produce in large quantities for preserving or large cooking projects. I’ve picked up peppers and tomatoes here by the ½ bushel for a few bucks. They’ve also got the essentials so you could really do about 90% of your grocery shopping here(assuming you want to cook from scratch).

I really like this place! The fruits/veggies are top notch in terms of quality and I don’t think it’s much more expensive than the main chains in the area. Some of the stuff was even cheaper. though they may have been on sale. The staff are friendly as well
