Went to inquire about hosting a reception, the owner mocked my wishes for the party. Made me feel like an idiot and never got back to me with the information I requested.

We were in town for a business event and used Il Gabbiano Ristorante for a dinner event that we were hosting. With a big group the service was great and the food was very very very delicious, there were plenty of great options to choose from along with an array of desserts! Definitely worth trying!

My wife planned a dinner here for my surprise 50th birthday celebration. We wear a large table and the shaft was so accommodating he made a special party menu for us. It was a delicious six course meal. It started with antipasto which was amazing. Then that we had shrimp and calamari which was just as delicious as the previous course. The next course was was an amazing spinach salad with goat cheese dried cherries and toasted almonds. Next the waitress brought out bowls of pasta and mushroom risotto, which were to die for. for the fifth course we had New York strip with A Gorgonzola demi-glaze and an encrusted salmon. Finally they brought out the dessert platter. I am not exactly sure what we had but everything was amazing. They brought me a plate of tiramisu with my 50 birthday candles in it and saying happy birthday. Overall the experience was unbelievable and I highly recommend this place for any special occasion this is definitely a meal we will never forget. The chef came out at the end of the meal and was incredibly kind and personable. I can’t say enough good things about this meal and how special they made event.

Came here for a surprise 50th dinner of 9 people. It was a 6 course family style meal and it was excellent. The chef personalized the menu for the party and it was perfect. The portions were generous and the food was authentic and tasty. We were very impressed! We will definitely be returning when we are in Windsor. No where better for Italian on Erie!

Made a reservation on their website for Saturday night. Emailed right away with the confirmation. We arrived on time and they confirmed our reservation. We were sat right away by the window, nice view to see the hustle and bustle on Erie st. We ordered the appetizer for two it was simply amazing! You could defiantly share with with more than two but it might cause some fighting because it’s just that delicious! We both had a glass of the Chardonnay. The roasted red pepper dip with the bread was amazing. I had a pasta dish with shrimp… Yum! And he had the white wish… The plate was nearly licked clean. The house salad dressing was homemade and tasty! We shared the gluten free carrot cheesecake… I’ve never tastes anything like it! I highly recommend this place the food was amazing, service was spectacular and the owners take such pride in their restaurant. I would recommend this for a couple, family or group. Enjoy!

Staff was super friendly and my husband’s steak was very good. Everyone else at our table’s food was strangely very bland. I detected no garlic or basil or any seasoning in several appetizers or the chicken I ordered. Everything was presented nicely but sadly, pretty bland.

I came here with a bunch of friends for a birthday party and I kid you not — all the DIFFERENT pastas that every one ordered tasted exactly the same.

I have been to this restaurant on multiple occasions and I always leave happy! The service is top-notch and the ambiance is perfect for a romantic dinner or date-night. The food is delicious and while the prices may be a bit high, the quality is always consistent. I love the fresh bread and dipping oil and if you have room after dinner, the tiramisu is incredible… and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t even like tiramisu!

Big disappointment after reading the great reviews on this place. The bruschetta was the only good part of the meal. Both pastas that we ordered were quite bland and one specified shitake mushrooms as being in the sauce but came out with button mushrooms.

What a delicious experience yesterday at Il Gabbiano Ristorante! We had originally planned on going to a different restaurant but decided to give Il Gabbiano a chance since they had one of the few outdoor patios! They have an extensive wine list, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a small, medium, bottle option. That’s pretty cool if you don’t want two full glasses, but still don’t want a bottle either. The bread basket was delightful! It came with a tomato, olive oil dipping sauce with herbs. I ordered the gnocchi with a light cream sauce and wow, was it surprisingly light and flavorful. You could tell the gnocchi was definitely made in house which is a definitely plus on my list. The only thing about my meal that wasn’t pleasant was the house salad. It was simply an overdressed plate of mixed greens. No veggies or croutons in sight. The two others in my party shared the bruchetta, grilled shrimp, and balsamic scallops. We all sent back empty plates to our extremely friendly and efficient server. I highly recommend Il Gabbiano if you’re looking for a delicious, fresh, authentic, Italian dinner.

In 2012, Windsor Via Italian finished a beautiful 10 blocks streets cape improvements that offered estuarine to extend a patio for outside dinning and pedestrian traffic. The improvements were beautiful and would love any opportunity to sit outside on a patio on cool summer evening to enjoy a wonderful Italian meal. This evening, we selected Il Gabbiano, the décor was classy with a big glass restaurant fronts is a great spot to watch and be seen. When we arrived, we were greater by Joe the restaurant owner as we walked up to the hostess. the restaurant décor was contemporary, quiet with a classy clientele. The music was soft and the art on the work well with the restaurant ambiance. I can see this establishment would be suitable for a couple night out, a business meal or a family get together. For large gatherings, I would recommend to call ahead as the restaurant settings are setup mostly for 2 to 4 people. When we sat down at the table, the attentive water introduce himself and asked if we would like bottle water or from the tap. This was a nice option. The menu is classic italian with the traditional dishes, we selected the lobster ravioli and a veal saluted with mushroom. All entrees is accompany by the house salad with olive oil dressing but the best part was the fresh bread and a marianna based dipping sauce. Il Gabbiano’s dipping sauce is unique on Erie street and a nice change of pace from the oil with balsamic vinegar. For the vegetarians, they do have a nice selection of salads to choose from. The entrée arrive promptly after we finished the salad. All dishes are accompany with a fresh sprig of herbs The ravioli was accompany with thyme and my veal had a stem of fresh oregano. My thought was that it icon be taken as a garnish or that you might want to pull off a few leaves and add it to your dish. I wider what other herbs they have available? With the difference in dishes, we were able to pick a bottle of wine that could pair with the food and we would both enjoy from the restaurant extensive list of wines by the bottle. The restaurant does offer a limited list of red(merlot and chianti) or a handful of whites which also included a Brut sparkling by the glass. I would have given a 5 star if the restaurant wine list by the glass had a wider selection that would pair well with the food menu. With every restaurant on Via Italian On Erie street, the portions are generous and food were beautiful and simply delic. Unfortunately, we did not leave room for dessert or a nice cup of cappuccino. But we both left fully contempt and would definitely repeat.

Deliciozo! Oh my goodness, we adored this place. My husband and I were attending a concert at Caesar’s Colosseum last Friday night but couldn’t get reservations in their fancy-schmancy restaurant. We’re so glad we couldn’t. We found Il Gabbiano(The Gull — perfect name for a restaurant near a river and a Great Lake) on the Via Italia website which covers many of the restaurants in Windsor’s Little Italy. Their menu looked wonderful … and it certainly was! As we entered, we were greeted by a smiling man who held the door for us and ushered us in. The décor is sophisticated but warm, and who can go wrong with Sinatra and Dean Martin crooning in the background? Service(our waiter was Dragan) was impeccable, attentive without rushing us. My husband had a cocktail and we shared a bottle of excellent Pinot Grigio. And now for the food — it simply couldn’t have been better. We chose Veal Piccata and the lamb, respectively, and they were both exquisite. The accompanying house Caesar was just perfect. When we arrived at 6:30p, there were two families with small children who finished early. After that, the dining room quickly filled with adults. Most gentlemen wore sport coats and ladies were well-dressed(I wouldn’t wear jeans here in the evening). Parking is on the street. The restaurant is easy to access from Tunnel or Bridge, close to Caesar’s Windsor, and other major hotels. We just can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. We’ll definitely return.
