The Woodshire Inn

If you’re in the market for a romantic getaway, I implore you to take a little trek out of the city and head to The Woodshire Inn. You’ll venture about 45 minutes from Halifax and happen upon the tiny town of Windsor. It won’t take much effort to find the place; it’s huge and historic and as yellow as can be!
So, here is the deal. Cocoa Pesto is the restaurant. Above the restaurant, or really in the restaurant and just up the swirling staircase are two huge, luxurious rooms with massive king sized beds just waiting to cradle you!
Feather pillows and duvets abound, not to mention the largest bathroom you ever did see, fitted with a deep soaker tub, separate shower and walled off toilet area. The linens are divine and everything is designed to make you feel pampered.
After you’ve rolled around for awhile, head down to the charming and unique restaurant, comprised of multiple rooms with lovely tables and picture windows. The historic house has been renovated with care and purpose, creating a lovely atmosphere, ripe with fantastic service.
Their menu is inspired, although slightly lacking in the unique vegetarian dishes department. If you’re staying upstairs, they’ll set up an ice bucket and bubbly so that when you return to your room, a cold bottle is awaiting you.
I love this place. If you’re looking to enjoy a well-​priced night away, I highly recommend you get in touch with the fine folks at The Woodshire Inn. Bonus: before the restaurant opens in the morning, you’re invited down to order anything you like, sans menu. What a way to treat yourself and the one you love!
