Came here for a ghetto-chicken fix. Just like everything else in this area, this restaurant is seriously beaten up. I couldn’t stop giggling as I walked in. Parking is ample. And by ample I mean the parking lot was empty. There were people eating inside though. The inside was pretty cramped. Looks like the kitchen takes up 80% of the floor area. My ghetto-chicken was served in an unmarked ghetto-bag. Thank goodness the police station across the street looked closed, or I might’ve been frisked for drugs on the way out. On the other hand, that also would’ve meant I wouldn’t stand a chance if someone decided to do a drive-by. As for the food itself. the chicken was actually pretty good. Nice thick skin like KFC, but nowhere near as salty. The rippled fries were a different story though. They were soggy and super-greasy. As for the pop? Well, it came in a can. My biggest complaint? It’s expensive here. My 2-piece chicken with fries and a pop was $ 6.50(!?). And I thought KFC was bad. Many family combos there were in the $ 15 – 20 range.

The Pembina location has really nice staff but I can’t say I loved the chicken. It didn’t taste as good and moist as the Corydon/Stafford location(which is now closed). I know it’s a franchise but somehow this location’s chicken tasted different? Anyhow, it wasn’t bad, just not what I expected. The fried chicken wasn’t as moist and the meat wasn’t as flavourful. Also tried their hot spicy cajun wings which were too salty — like way too much cajun seasoning but no detectable heat. That being said, they did give additional hot sauce packets, which tasted like tobasco sauce. But I prefer it when the wings are prepared«hot and spicy» as opposed to me having to add heat to it. The crinkled cut fries tasted delicious with the well seasoned gravy. They have lots of daily deals as well as coupons on their website. But I really can’t justify returning here because if I am going to eat a high caloric meal, it has to be pretty amazing for me to justify the splurge. This place is okay but there are more juicy and flavourful fried chicken elsewhere in the city.
