Decent enough pub, not impressed with the beers one tap, food was average(I had the pie), service staff were below par. If you want average this is it!

I stumbled upon the Fox & Fiddle while exploring the Exchange District. It is in an old bank building or something similar with very high ceilings and lots of marble which gives it a clean and upscale appearance. The crowd was young — 20’s and early 30’s — and energetic without being loud or obnoxious.(Although I was there on a Monday night, so it could get rowdy on the weekends.) Monday night was Wing night with a pound of wings for $ 3. They had several varieties of sauces and dry-rubs. Many sounded good, but I went with the Honey-Lime Sriracha wings. They were tasty, but did not pack the punch I was hoping for. The wait staff was very friendly, but did get weeded a couple of times making me wait a bit longer that I like for a beer. Speaking of which they have a fairly good selection of draft beer, but you wouldn’t call it a tap house. Overall it was a very good pub experience and I will hit it again before I leave town.

Stopped by after a long day driving the Trans-Canada from Calgary at the end of an awesome vacation. Needless to say, we were in need of some tasty beer and pub food. The Fox and Fiddle did not disappoint. The setting is beautiful and feels upscale, but comfortable. Our bartender was lovely and we enjoyed talking with her about the city. It wasn’t nearly as crowded as many of the nearby establishments, and there was no cover charge. Decent variety of beers on tap; we stuck to locals from Fort Garry and were quite pleased. The food was great as well. Lots of variety on the menu, from burgers and wings to curries and flatbreads. Prices were a bit on the high side of reasonable, but we felt it was worth it. A pleasant surprise; if we’re back in Winnipeg, we’ll be back at the Fox.

So so service, so so menu, was told I couldn’t get a booth because they’re keeping them for groups and the place was empty. Was hungry and solved that problem but won’t come back…

I had very low expectations going into this place — it was a last resort on Sunday because News Café wasn’t open! So we walked over to the Fox & Fiddle nearby to grab a quick lunch. I have to say the exterior is so grand looking! Going inside, the restaurant and lounge are in a beautifully designed space where the gorgeous designs of the past(a bank) were maintained with some updating. This place has a lot of drink specials so I wasn’t holding my breath for good food. Opted for the«fox club» which is really a chicken club sandwich for $ 11.99 with a $ 2.99 substitution for Greek salad. When I ordered, the server asked if I wanted fries, soup or salad and offered up house/garden, caesar or greek. She didn’t mention that the Greek choice would be an add on price as the meal includes a house salad and not the others. No biggie but something that should be mentioned to customers when ordering. It was a pretty generous portion of food that came out. The chicken had no real flavour but was fine as a club. The Greek salad was okay but nothing special. The Mediterranean chicken wrap($ 11.99) is a massively stuffed wrap with a side of fries. Surprisingly once again, the chicken filling was fairly under seasoned. The thick cut fries were quite soggy and flavourless. The food overall was actually fine relative to the price and portion provided. I wasn’t expecting anything great so my expectations were in line with the place. The menu is a bit weird as I get that it’s suppose to be fine pub fare but this is no gastropub. There’s lots of random dishes that sort of mimic Joey’s menu where there’s burgers to pad thai to curries etc. They have really cheap wing nights Overall, decent place to get together with friends for drinks and appys. Compared to their competitors in the area, I would say this is a more elevated version of Tavern United. I hate Tavern United’s food so I’d rather eat here at Fox & Fiddle but if you prefer more consistent food then maybe Moxie’s or Earls. One thing to add is the great service we received on a really quiet lunch hour. Our server was helpful, had comments and recommendations about the food and drinks and seemed pretty upbeat the restaurant. She even plugged the cheap half price wing nights they offer as we were leaving.

Pricey bar food and lots of TV’s. Good for those folks who are non-critical. For example, we ordered a seafood platter, that came with one piece of breaded fish, and fries and pastey white calamari on the side. The calamari wasn’t even done, let alone nicely browned. Waitresses were trying hard to please and were very nice, but the food was extremely marginal. Would not recommend, not even to sports fans.
