I would’ve had a burger here but the service was unbelievably awful. The server didn’t come to my table to take my order once they delivered my drink, I sat here hungry and unhappy and no matter how good the burgers may be I doubt I will return

Food quality is excellent! Second time we have visited and service again very poor. We were the only people in the restaurant and waited 15 minutes to have our drink orders taken and then they were wrong. It’s unfortunate the service hasn’t improved since our previous visit. I don’t think we will be back as there are lots of burger places with good service here in Winnipeg.

I’m a fan. All my experiences with the food have been great. t Service is not always super quick though, which is why it is a 4⁄5 not a 5⁄5. But, great, imaginative burgers… love the ‘build your own’ option and for a great price. Any time I have guests from out of town, MB is a sure-fire stop!

Saturday August 25⁄15 Came for lunch at 1pm there was only one waitress on for Saturday afternoon she had the upstairs patio to tend and the lower restaurant so service was ok. The food was great although food temperature was not hot. I will give this place another visit.

Went here on 18 April 2015. A few items on the menu were scribbled over with black Sharpie. The server further informed us that several other items were unavailable(basically half of the burger menu). We ordered around these restrictions, and our orders still arrived incorrect, with some elements missing. There were no apologies or accommodations made. One star simply because the food, although not exactly what was ordered, actually tasted good in spite of the rude, unprofessional attitude and unforgivably terrible service exhibited by the staff.

Good food and decent drinks. I didn’t get to experience the rooftop patio in the summer because it was ridiculously busy. I guess that’s a good sign though.

I was really excited to see another cool patio(and a rooftop one to boot!) on Corydon. I waited until the weather got nice and went to go try out the grub. The inside of the restaurant was nice but empty as everyone was upstairs. They have a bar upstairs which doesn’t seem to be used and would be perfect for the poor servers who have to keep running up and down those windy stairs with drinks. It also took them a long time to get our food, but honestly those stairs would wipe me out too! The burgers were good, but it’s all a la carte so it gets pricey. I still have to say that I like Unburger better for the food. At night it looks lovely with strings of lights and shrubs along the edge. No idea how they got them up there or what they will do when they get too large but that’s next years problem!

I ordered the Menno poutine(split with my wife) and the All Day Breakfast burger with an extra beef patty. The poutine, which came with sautéed onions, mushrooms and farmers sausage topped with cream gravy and cheese, was delicious. My burger was good, but it didn’t knock my socks off. Part of it was me, I didn’t care for the farmers sausage patty that it came with, though the extra beef patty I ordered on the burger was really good. It was just a bit dry and under seasoned for my taste, but had good flavor overall. The burger was tough to eat due to its size, so I kind of missed out on the overall flavor experience. Next time I would go with one patty and sub the sausage for a beef patty. I think the general consensus at our table was that the burgers were good but lacked flavorful seasonings, especially considering the epicness of some of their offerings. The worst part of our dining experience was the service. While not bad, it wasn’t great either. Food came out fairly quickly, but we were left hanging on drinks a couple of times. I think this place has great potential but could use some tweaks to make it really great.

Went back here nearly a year later and not much has changed. Rooftop patio is awesome and a reason to hang out and have a drink. I like that it doesn’t feel like you’re on Corydon. The patio has a cool laid back vibe so that is a plus. But unfortunately, service is still really slow. I couldn’t tell how busy the main dining area was since I was on the rooftop but it was a nice warm night and only about a quarter of the rooftop was full. We had to wait a bit for the server to take the orders and then once the orders were put in, there was at least 45 mins before our food arrived. The server did apologize for the wait and I wasn’t terribly hungry but 45 mins is way too long for an order of sliders and frings. Tried the«slider platter»($ 10) — mini versions of three of their most popular signatures burgers. — The Desi: Pakistani-style beef patty with a special blend of spices, fresh cilantro and onion. Topped with lettuce, tomato, a cilantro dressing and our house-made mayo. — Mac ‘N Cheese: beef patty topped with mac n’ cheese made with Old Bothwell Cheddar, dressed with house-made chipotle ketchup. — The Banh Mi: ground pork patty with a soy glaze, topped with jalepeno, daikon, carrot and cilantro. It was nice to have a sampling of their signatures. I was excited to try the desi and the banh mi as they sounded like the ones with the most flavour. The desi was good but lacked the Paksitani spices I was anticipating. The banh mi was also mild in flavour and had more generic asian flavours but didn’t remind me of a vietnamese sub as the name would suggest. the Mac n cheese could be great but the mac n cheese didn’t have enough cheese to give this burger that real flavour. All the patties were okay — not dry but also not juicy either. The frings($ 6) for half order of fries and half order of onion rings were done really well. the onion rings are very good as the batter is perfectly seasoned and stayed on the onion. The fries were also very crispy which is a plus. I love burgers but unfortunately this place doesn’t do it for me. I really like their concept and I think their burgers could be good if the flavours intensified a bit and the patties were juicier. And if food service time improved, I think this place would be great.

Market Burger should be called Magic Burger or… Magnificent Burger. However, Market Burger accurately represents what this place is all about so does the acronym MB because everything is local. I thought that was really clever and cute. They also incorporate the whole MB theme into their décor and menu. I had the sliders and shared the frings. I picked the sliders because I wanted to try all three of those burgers and I thought I would love«The Desi» best but I LOVED«The Banh Mi». It was a flavor explosion. The Desi was great too and who doesn’t want to try a mac and cheese burger, but that wasn’t really my thing. The frings were good just salty enough and the ketchup was not that sugar Heinz stuff but yummy and sharp. The gin bacon caesar was possibly the best caeser I’ve ever had. I consider myself pretty picky when it comes to the fine Canadian cocktail so, that’s saying something. The service was also great our server was really friendly in the«I want to know more about you» way not the«stop talking to me» way. He also had great music playing and introduced me to the band Wild Belle, which I’m listening to right now. Major points there. I also loved the atmosphere and décor. So, obviously I’m a big fan. I like this place more than Unburger if you had to choose.

I’m surprised at the mediocre reviews for this place. I’ve had a great time there on dates, with friends, and my mom loves it too. The ambience is nice and versatile, and I love the burgers. The default bun is a bit dry-seeming, but I’ve only ever had the multigrain bun which is delicious. I love how they’ve embraced local. I eat vegetarian most of the time because you never know where someone orders their meat from, and it’s nice to see it right up there on the wall. Literally! You will pay a little more than you normally might for burgers and fries, but you will leave full and happy without that remorseful fast food feeling. I also reviewed them for The Uniter!

I only end up in Winnipeg about once a year, but each time I seem to visit at least one burger joint, this time it was a market burger. I went for a late lunch with two others and the restaurant was pretty empty. We were here for«Bacon week». Although the combinations sounded delicious they were a bit heavy for a lunch option. So we each opted for the make your own with a side of fries split amongst us. My beef burger was juicy and cooked well, without being overdone. The brioche bun was moist and light, but would have been even better warmed up before serving. The chipotle mayo, grainy mustard and smoked maple cheddar cheese were all delicious. In honour of bacon week I added bacon to mine which was crisp and flavourful. Local and fresh ingredients really do make all the difference. The only thing missing from the topping list was sliced dill pickles, which are a fave of mine on any burger. The service was friendly and attentive. They offered suggestions on what to order when asked and followed up with drink refills without prompting. I felt the price point was more than reasonable considering their dedication to sourcing local and fresh ingredients. I also appreciate that they work with other local merchants to secure their buns and bread. To me that shows their dedication to strengthening the community by building these relationships. Overall, I’d go back and recommend it to others.

They have 2 vegetarian patties, as well as a make your own option, which amounts to good variety of burgers for veggie folks. The French fries have an amazing array of delicious sauces(honey, mint, and jalapeño!) which are sure to be a foodie pleaser. They also serve Cornell Crème Ice cream, which is locally produced on a small scale. We tried the vanilla ice cream and it was great to see that it had the little black flecks suggesting that it was made with vanilla beans. It’s definitely worth trying! The patio gives it a serious advantage over most(all?) of the fancy burger places in Winnipeg. Overall it is a great place to hang out on a sunny day, have a few beer, and eat a decent burger.
