Speakeasy is definitely hot on the heels right now. Blue Elephant is another bar which attempts to be a speakeasy. So to locate the place is tricky. Once you’ve found it, the offerings will entice you. The bar pays homage to cinematophy and film industry. With director chairs, movies posters and velvet curtains — all that details are not lost on us. Their cocktail list is decent if not spectacular. Try their signature cocktail«Blue Elephant» which is a concoction of vodka, Australian Chardonnay, passion fruit syrup, apple juice, grapefruit juice and blue curacao syrup. For snacks, they share a similiar menu from A Li Yaa, the Sri Lankan restaurant nearby.

I’m very much a movie buff and I do produce and direct in my own company too. This place surely is made for me or the likes of me. It has this Hollywood theme where the decoration is like a movie set or set for directors to sit down. Every Wednesday and Thursday girls drinks cocktail for free. Their staff wears tees that labels them as key grip, casting director, stunt coordination and so on. It’s not cheap but the experience is well worth it.

There’s been a recent upsurge of speakeasy themed bars cropping up as of late and Blue Elephant stands as one of the better ones. Drawing inspiration from the silver screen, I would recommend this place to anyone who lives and breathes Hollywood. Patrons can sit at the bar with foldable«director» chairs or lounge in more private booth as they contemplate a life sized Oscar(kitschy yes, but still a nice touch) study popular quotes from movies emblazoned across the walls and ogle framed photographs of their favorite celebrities. I’m not much of a cocktail buff but I reckon that the drinks here are pretty expensive, a little on the pricey side but you can tell that a lot of effort was put into concocting these creations. My highlight of the night came in the form of the RM4 popcorn infused with flavors of either caramel, peanut butter or curry. What can I say, I’m simple like that. Plus it’s cheaper that what you get at the cinemas and by far a lot tastier. You probably can’t smuggle in chicken nuggets here but sometimes, you’ve just got to class it up.
