This centre was established in 1997 and houses more than 100 multi-​racial residents, from babies, to older children, and a couple of adults. They provide care and services for children who may be physically or mentally challenged, and even children who are from broken homes or have single parents.
During my school years, I visited them occasionally and my family would donate money, clothes, toys, or educational items to them. I also used to organize projects to raise funds and donations for the centre. Seeing these kids in their challenging conditions, it really breaks your heart.
The centre always welcomes volunteers from all walks of life who are willing to spend some precious time with these kids who would really appreciate some good company. Feel free to organize classes for them to learn a new skill or pick up a new hobby. You can even just sit with them and help them with their homework. Sometimes, some of the kids may get a little aggressive, but it’s only because they’re so excited to have you there. They need love, care and attention. just like all humans do.
Feel free to go in groups with your family, friends or colleagues. They get really happy and excited when they see a bunch of people coming to see them. When they smile at you, it makes you feel like you’ve done something so wonderful just by being there and you realize how much it means to them.
