Shogun has to be one of the first few Japanese buffet that I have been to. And the one at 1Utama has been improving through the years of its operation. They have a wide range of food, not just Japanese but also local cuisine, Korean and even western cuisine. Though I would not say they serve the best Japanese food, the price for the buffet is worthwhile. I do enjoy every now and then to have a buffet meal. And Shogun is just one of the few places I will go. They have a good variety of sushi and I’d love their tempura section. Also the tomyam soup they serve has really a kick to it. I do really enjoy looking through all the food here as they are always being replenish when it gets low.

I went to the Sunway branch before. I entered being enthused and left rubbing a major food baby belly. Everything here was scrumptious, well at least the vegan options. Don’t know about the meat dishes. This place right here has everything, from fried rice, to sushi, to many types of broths, a salad bar and a dessert bar(which is the Holy Grail of any buffet joint). I remembered having a good carb-kick with the copious amounts of cucumber and avocado sushi rolls. I also dabbled in other fusion inspired dishes as well. I paid RM80 but it was so worth the money. However, this time around, I went to the One Utama branch. I wished they organized the reservations better. Due to a massive crowd wanting to get in, everyone had to wait while the waiters cleaned up the mess made by previous consumers. It was a chaotic scene. Think of the invasion of the walking dead, only with hungry people. After a hellish 45 minutes of waiting, we gave up and just went to Sushi Kind because we couldn’t bear to wait any longer. Also, there was still a long queue and the manager was too busy to attend to everyone at once. Really hope that there’ll be an assistant manager and a few more workers hired to get things done faster.

Shogun is a Japanese Buffet Restaurant that also serves A la carte meals and sets. There is a smoking section and they don’t serve pork(although, sake(alcohol) is available on their drinks menu). It is another great place to dine for japanese food with an interesting menu with quite a large variety to choose from. Obviously picked their buffet dining option when I came here with a large group of friends. The sashimi was very fresh and we paid about 65RM per person all up. I’d suggest coming here for lunch as they serve a better variety than at night(this is coming from friends who have been here for lunch AND dinner although I’ve only been here for lunch). Wide selection of assorted sushi to choose from, we were all so full by the end of it. The oysters were also fresh and we had the chilli crab to share. Service was good — staff were friendly and attentive, although, because it is a buffet style restaurant, a lot of it is pretty much self-service. Seating is spacious and interior is standard looking. Nothing too fancy or over the top. A great place for a weekend feast with friends and family. Will definitely be back here for more soon!
