Sang Kee Wanton Mee

This is my favourite wanton mee/​hakka me stall. I have the hakka me here for breakfast at least three to four times a week, it is that good. The husband and wife you owns the stall are so friendly. The wife is the chef, the skilful hands behind every delicious plate of hakka mee I’ve had and the husband serves and attends to the customer. He speaks perfect English and has really good PR skills; he is very eloquent and more outspoken than his wife. I always feel very welcome when I come here. But seriously though, he might talk the talk but he sure as hell can walk the talk too. It’s proven in the food.
The hakka me here is excellent, it’s not drenched in oil and it’s not too bland either. The noodles are cooked perfectly it’s not soggy and has a little crunch to it. It is tossed in a light savoury-​peppery broth and topped off with some stewed minced pork. The noodles also come with a bowl of wanton soup. This is a pretty good plate of noodles if you ask me. The wanton mee here is good too; the star of the dish though is the char siew. Now I know I said that the wife is the one who does the cooking but the char siew is made by the husband. It’s freaking delicious. He wakes up every morning at 4am to cook the char siew. Now that’s passion.
I love this noodle stall, I’ve brought a few of my friends here to try the noodles and they have nothing but good things to say about it. So if you are looking to get some great tasting hakka mee, give this place a try. Two thumbs up!
