Like most students, I am not very fond of my university’s cafeteria. If I could, I would choose not to have my lunch break at this cafeteria but there are a few exceptions where I would consider if I had only a short break or if I needed a snack before class and The Waffle would be one of them. It is a relatively new stand, and I was getting hungry but it was long before lunch, so I thought I might as well get something light. Since I didn’t like the other stalls around that much, I thought I’d give this new one a try. I found it interesting that they sells mostly Belgian style waffles with custard inside. I found it even more interesting when I begin reading the choices I was spoiled with. It was durian season in Malaysian then, so it didn’t take me long to choose my custard’s flavour. Yep! I bought myself a durian stuffed waffle. It was served fresh and warm, and mind you, I didn’t need more than two bites to get to the custard. The waffle exceeded my expectations of what my university could serve us. It is not the crunchy kind of waffle, but rather the chewy one, but it was still good. I was glad I made that decision that day. The lady who served me was nice. One Thursday, I had no idea that they did not open until after 10am and had walked up to the stand. She told me she was opening the shop and said that I could order first and she would make mine when she’s ready before anything else, and told me to take a seat first. I did, and not long after she waved at me and said that my waffle was ready. I could tell that the shop was still in the midst of opening, so I was really grateful for what she has done.
