La Azotea Umaran 6 Centro San Miguel Hard to find but worth the effort. Enter thru the restaurant located at Umaran 6 and take the stairs to the right. Great rooftop bar with good snacks and appetizers. Great atmosphere and Cool scene for locals and expatriates alike. Amazing view! Recommend for cool place to catch sunset. Urban Cowgill April 2016

La Azotea is a wonderful place to come and take a load off after a long day of shopping and sauntering on cobblestone streets. It’s on the 3rd floor of a building that houses another restaurant, so just take the stairs to the top. Here you will find many expats and traveling retirees. It seemed to be an older crowd, and that was perfect for us! We were immediately greeted by smiling faces and were welcomed to enjoy a corner table with a great view. Menus are on slate chalkboards and prices are very fair. My mom and I ordered the Tacos Poblanos and a round of lime margaritas. Both were VERY good. THe tacos were pretty big, so you might want to share an order with someone. Everyone that we encountered was lovely… super friendly and helpful. We ordered another round of margs and enjoyed the complmentary chili peanuts they have at every table — so good! For dessert she had the cajeta crepes and I had the corn cake — both were fantastic! The corn delish… if you still have room for it, I recommend it! Our time here was leisurely and we felt more than welcome to relax and enjoy. The sunset was lovely, though the view not as dramatic as el Mirador or Luna at the Rosewood, but it was still a great way to end the day over some cocktails and good food. Salud!

Definitely where the hip d.f. crowd comes(and some local expats). Rooftop terrace has a nice sunset view but you are west of the parroquia so that’s not part of the view. Staff is OK. Drinks are good. Vegetarian options are slim. Jicama tacos were interesting(jicama for the taco shell). Elote was overpriced and underwhelming, its better bought from a street vendor for less. There are so many rooftop bars I’d rather try than return here.

Great bar to watch beautiful sunset from there rooftop terrace, staff is very friendly and accommodating, drinks were good and beer was so cold it came with a layer of ice. Very comfortable, high recommendations all around. We did not eat here but the taps menu seems quite interesting with item one would find in a Spanish tapas bar.

For one of the very best views of San Miguel’s ornamental steeples, creative food and cocktails, and a swank interior, a visit to Azotea is a must! The name Azotea doesn’t appear on the outside of the building, but I can assure you that it is indeed at Umaran 6. Just go in and take a right before the host station to the ground level restaurant. There is a cocktail area separate from the wrap around windowed restaurant. You can order the excellent appetizers there. The jicama tacos(tostadas?) are killer!!! Thin slices of jicama are substituted for the tortilla base. Breaded pork and super crispy bits of green onion have two sauces – sour cream and bbq – drizzled over them. I went twice and each time, once with three people and once with four, and each time we ALL ordered at least one of these delectable treats. I have to give props to Jan from Texas whom we met there the first time. She comes there so often, she claims she has a seat with her name on it. ;-) She was the one that reco’d the jicama tacos. Also amazing were the ham croquettes, crispy on the outside, gooey and delicious on the inside! And the salmon tacos. Washed it all down with Ginger Margaritas and the awesome Cucumber cocktail.

Great tapas and drinks! Everything was very flavorful and the portions were very generous. I would say each portion is enough for four people to each enjoy a serving. You would easily pay $ 150 in the states for what we had today for only $ 56. The atmosphere is very relaxing and beautiful. It’s right off the plaza so it’s very convenient and on the rooftop so the views are spectacular! For the quality, price and views, I give it 5 stars!

Love this place for margaritas and little apps. Great views of downtown, plenty of shade on the day, different seating options from the bar, tables to couches. Loungy music all day long, great vibe and good service. Full of gringos but not the loud annoying kind, everyone is just happily sipping and loving it.

Right off the Jardin. Opens at 1pm, which made it most convenient hours. Drinks were really good and liked the tapas/appetizers. Try the jicama taco — outstanding. Oh, and how could I forget the vies — breathtaking.

So far the best drinks in San Miguel. The tapas were very good and the portions were larger than your average tapas. Great view of the church at night. Nice lounge music.

This place is a must when in San Miguel. The owners are exceptional hosts and can be seen busing tables, serving patrons, and mixing drinks. The crowd here is definitely 25+, which is nice for those looking for a good time off of the club scene. Drinks are well made and reasonably priced. Service is outstanding, and the place basically never closes. As for food, I love the«tacos pueblo», the jicama tacos(fried shrimp with crunchy fried leeks, cool creamy salsa, and a paper-thin jicama«tortilla»), and the pulpo a la gallega(a traditional Spanish dish). Perfect for drinks with friends. On weekends, the music can get a little loud and the bar way too crowded. But, it’s definitely worth it.

Nice setting overlooking the city. Stopped in for happy hour 2 for 1 margaritas. Excellent btw. Servers were amazingly attentive. Did not stay for food, however.

We went there for the margaritas and the sunset per New York Times suggestion.‘The view is partially blocked with a building and there aren’t many tables with a view. They are expanding though. I loved the décor and the service. They’re very accommodating. It’s nice, modern but still a relaxed vibe. We had the tamarindo margaritas and wasn’t a fan… But I don’t like blended drinks anyway. Would go again for the ambience and to try something else.

This is my go-to rooftop in San Miguel to watch the sun go down, enjoy good music, cool drinks and yummy food. You will fall in love, not only with the stunning view but the tasty food — don’t forget to try the Jicama Tacos — generous cocktails(two for one happy hour Mon-Thurs, 5 – 9 pm) — and the darling, friendly bartenders. Tell the manager, Rigel, that I say hello! DJ Martha spins the coolest mixes in town Thursday, Friday and Saturdays. Oh, and they’re open until late. Very, very late on special weekends.
