My friends would probably scoff if I told them that I sometimes go to Starbucks when I’m in Mexico. When I do visit, it’s usually because my family is in an incredibly touristy area saturated with chain restaurants, or if I just really want a latte. Mexico isn’t a café culture the same way that the US and Europe are. While I wouldn’t choose it over a mexican café should I run into one, what I love about Starbucks in Mexico are their lattes de cajeta(which is a thickened mexican syrup made of caramelized milk that we use in so many sweets, especially around the holidays). I’ve also tried their seasonal horchata frappuccino which was quite good. Moreover, order their pastries and sandwiches and you will mostly find that they are larger and in interesting variations compared to their US counterparts(this goes for almost any other country, their cookies in Germany were gigantic!).

Very nice to have a great American style latte in Mexico. A good place to stop before a fun day of tour ahead.

Wanted a artisan breakfast sandwich from California but found a ham and cheese croissant. Delicious!
