Di Merlo

Business brings me to Chihuahua 4 or 5 times a year and di Merlo is my new favorite restaurant. I’ve eaten there 3 times in the past 2 months & have been extremely satisfied every time. The salads are huge and extremely satisfying. The medio (small) can easily feed 4 people. The lettuce is fresh, crisp, clean, and crispy. My salad had apple slices, walnuts, mushrooms and sunflower seeds. For 95 pesos this is a good deal. I’ve had bologna gnocchi, beef sausage tortellini, and a spaghetti with cream sauce. All were served in abundance & were very good. Chef Jose knows what he’s doing. The cream sauce was rich, thick, and smooth. Bologna sauce was a nice mix of meat and spicy tomato sauce without even a hint of grease. The tortellini were boiled perfectly with none open or soggy and the cheese was well cook, very hot, and firm. The service was quick, attentive, and accommodating, even tough they get busy as the evening wears on. The owner/​chef always greeted me during the meal and checked that all was perfect. I’ve had their pitcher of sangria, which was well priced and refreshing. I savored a second glass of their house red, a dry and flowery Mexican wine. The owner noticed me drinking the wine and making notes and offered me a glass, on the house, of a Chilean red, Tuniche Cabernet Sauvignon ’13. WoW! He knows his wine! Excelente! I returned two nights later with my small team of 5 and we drank two bottle in no time. (We ate a large meal as well.) My Chihuahua team completely agrees that this is the best Italian restaurant in Chihuahua. I highly recommend it for high quality and great value.

Well, this place was my husband’s and my favorite place to go when we were dating… that was 10 years ago, but a few years back it was still the same great flavor and great service.
They have really good creamy pastas, but what takes the winning ticket is their Tiramisu. I still dream about it! I actually have never ever had another one as good as theirs.
The ambiance is really nice and it’s also nice to have a good place to park the car.
