Doctor Aide Talamantes-Garabedian

All I really have to say is «wow.» I was blown away by Dr. Garabedian’s bedside manner and kindness when I arrived to her office.
I saw two dentists in Austin and the first quoted me 5 crowns with new fillings and the second 3 crowns with fillings plus a root canal. With my insurance either would have cost me $ 5000 which lead me to search for alternative options. San Antonio dental school wasn’t accepting new applications so that wasn’t an option. I actually found reviews for Dr. Aide on other websites and they mentioned how good their experience went with her.
Finding the place was easy, if you know what you’re looking for. It’s set back between two buildings but there is a hanging sign of her name that I found without a problem. I decided to drive across the boarder instead of walking because really, her office is not more than 2.5 blocks from the boarder. Just be prepared for different road rules (especially if you’re a US residence) and remember to bring your Passport. Vehicle crossing was $ 3 in and $ 2.10 out at the time of this writing.
Dr. Garabedian was very honest and she didn’t suggest anything that I didn’t need. She was able to save my tooth that my other two dentists wanted to do a root canal and put a crown on it. So, I’m really happy about that! She replaced all my fillings without any complications at all. I have an old root canal that always felt different. Dr. Garabedian looked at it and found a very small infection and also found out that it wasn’t completely finished! She brought in a RC specialist from another location that same day to get his advice and we got that squared away.
Her dental equipment is the same that you will find in the states and I didn’t feel like anything was ever inadequate. She knows her stuff, she knew which tooth had a prior metal filling and which ones are quality work.
One very nice thing is that she focuses on a single person for the day. While she would accept friends coming together, she likes to set aside the entire day for the patient and take care of anything that given day. Crowns are made quickly the following day and are delivered as soon as they are done. So I get everything finished in 2 days.
I stayed at a hotel on the US side since all my friends in the states keep talking about cartel violence, but honestly, if you’re just going to see Dr. Garabedian, the chances of getting involved in cartel stuff is almost nil. I would come back and bring friends if I ever need work again. The prices with Dr. Garabedian were so reasonable compared to what the Austin dentists were charging.
