Snuggled near the metro stop of Tlatelolco, you will see the prehispanic, Spanish, and modern archeological site of the equal to Temple Mayor, only this is MUCHMUCH larger. An amazing day and FREE to visit, this is also the site of the memorial for 38 students killed while protesting in 1968. For countless reasons, this area defines Mexico to a literal definition — and ironically, in many many ways. Once you spend the day in and out of the on site cathedral, the archaeological excavations of past and present, pay tribute to the student memorial, as well as visit a most beautiful memorial nearby, the café Tulix Kappen offers the BEST postres, best breakfast items, salads, milkshakes, sandwiches of all kind, coffee, tea,(get the picture?) This was the BEST end to the day thanks to the amazing service(18 of us descended on this café and all received our food within 15 minutes and this is smaller than our nearby Starbucks at the ABC Hospital. Yet, the outdoor seating and inside seating is RELAXING, comfortable, and you find yourself contemplating all you saw comfortably in such an environment. A treasure find accompanying this site, and we did not even get to go into the museum nearby which is one of the best as well, so that is next on the checklist. This Café, DO stop by, you will love your day completely with this stop!
