Restaurant Isabel is a place where the locals go as it’s off the main streets in a residential area, not my favorite place for Breakfast in Ensenada but it does the job at a reasonable price, and for you gabachos you’re in Mexico now so relax… don’t expect speedy service. The Menu:
It was early so the house made tortilla chips and salsa they give you to munch on was still warm they also have a spicier salsa roja Menudo — along with the condiments now you have this wasn’t my order and I didn’t try it but I was told it was good. Chilaquiles — The chilaquiles/tortilla had a nice bite to them(meaning not hard but also not a soft mess) the eggs were cooked beautifully, the beans were good but my only complaint is the small portion size on the beans, it’s like one small scoop. Omelet con Chorizo y Nopales — (not on the menu, I asked them to make it) I must say this was a really good Omelet, the pork chorizo mixed with the fresh nopales tasted real good, my two complaints if you look at the previous photos, again the small portion of Beans! and what’s up with the frozen has brown patty… can you say #McDonalds! While the Omelet was very good, I expect more from the sides, you make all this food from scratch but now you’re gonna serve some frozen potato patty? #Hijole. House made Flour Tortillas — Nice and thin with a real good taste. Enchilada’s Verde — Cheese enchiladas in salsa verde, the salsa verde was a bit too sour, this generally balances out when cooked with fatty meats such as pork, but when you’re just making Cheese Enchiladas the salsa should be adjusted and they did not. The food ranged from 3 — 4 Stars
