Great food and even better service. The owner was our server and treated us very well. He even let us try his new flavors of margaritas that were not even on the menu for free! We had the steak burritos, steak quesadilla, margaritas, and red snapper veracruz fish. ;) Enjoy!

My first time at the restaurant, was steered here by Unilocal reviews and a conversation I had with someone at another restaurant. Located on «restaurant row» so there is seating along the street, grab a table on the street, and enjoy the sights as people walk by. Chips and hot sauce were served shortly after I sat down. Chips were very good, hot sauce even better(about 6 on the heat meter, not even close to the«reminder» end of the scale). Didn’t order guacamole, but some was brought out. Had no problem finishing it off as it was very good. The exact dish I wanted was not listed on the menu, so I asked the waiter for exactly what I wanted. He did not hesitate, just told me, no problem. Camarones ala plancha con ajo y mantequilla, it is! The shrimp turned out almost perfect, have to give the dish a 9+. A bit more char/grill marks on the shrimp, would’ve been a 10. Towards the end of the meal the waiter came by to ask how my meal was, at that point I found out, he is the owner, Dopi. Very nice guy! Look forward to going back to try the beef they are known for. The shrimp dish was roughly $ 11.50US, which included everything that came before the meal. Great experience, would recommend to anyone.

Great food from a true chef with a history of raising grass fed cattle on the family farm. Dopi is so nice– we love to chat with him each time we visit the island while enjoying some delicious tacos and margaritas for lunch!

We had high hopes for this place based on the other reviews but the shrimp quesadilla and seafood paella were both extremely salty. We let the waitress know after we ate most of it, but neither she nor the chef got back with us about it.

What a wonderful restaurant! The owner is there often and the filet mignon is wonderful and it comes from the owner’s farm. The portions are perfect size and everything is quite tasty! This place has 5 stars for a reason. A must try when in Isla Mujeres!!!

Great food! We had the seafood platter and it was delicious. It’s large and can be split. We really wish we would’ve gotten that and a filet. Loved everything about it and will go back!

I wanted to really love this place, but ended up liking it enough. The shrimp burrito with smokey chipotle was excellent. Our second choice was a «filet mignon» burrito with garlic jalapeño. It had far less favor; basically greasy ground beef. The server was trying hard, but her lack of experience really showed. Bottom line: worth giving it a try, but don’t be fooled by the glowing reviews.

Located in the northern end of Hidalgo is this fabulous restaurant. Owned and operated by Dopi and his wife Echo. Not only is the food good but the service is exemplary. Every restaurant in Isla serves up a variety of tacos. I’ve tried every variety all over the island. Hands down Dopi’s has the BEST shrimp taco I’ve ever tasted. I dream of these tacos when I’m back home. The other food on the menu is amazing but, for me, I could eat their shrimp tacos every day and never get tired of them. Put this place on your«must eat here» list and you won’t be disappointed.

The thing about Isla Mujeres is that so many places get incredible reviews. I blame vacation goggles. When you are sick of mediocre tacos, and are looking for a place that has an actual chef, welcome to Dopi’s. Top playfull name and icon may give you the wrong idea. This place has amazing burritos. If you frequent the greater Cancun area, you know that it’s mainly a world of tacos. Burritos are more of northern Mexico food. Fortunately, that’s where this guy comes from. But what if you want seafood caught from the waters around the island? Well I have good news, you can find that here. The fish vary with the day. It’s just kind of up to what the fishermen caught that day. I kind of like that. We discovered this place last year. We then ate there every single night for 4 or 5 night straight. We were a little embarrassed, but whatever we were on vacation. We went again this year two nights in a row but I feel guilty that we didn’t say bye. It was a shorter trip on isla this time. I get to be the first Unilocal review though! The owner is a trained chef whose family owns cattle up in northern Mexico. His wife serves as hostess and waitress, and she’s really great. We feel like we got to know her last year and this year. To be honest, we’d probably still order take out even if they were rude. The food really is some of our favorite on the island. However, good service is always a nice touch. Although, the word setting feels more apropos than the word service at Dopi’s.
