I was in the Golden Zone for an hour. You can easily spend more time than that here, maybe 2 – 3 hours if you eat as well. I just went in a few of the stores, which were kind of expensive, and down to the beach. There were lots of people selling things, and activities you could do such as snorkeling and parasailing. A good way to spend a few hours. I would have given it a five but there are many shopping areas like this, not too special but still fun.

When I visit places, I usually like to see the main tourist attraction but I don’t spend a lot of time in them because I really like to experience what it’s like to live in the place I’m visiting as well. However, I was thankful for the Golden Zone in Mazatlan. After having caught the wrong bus and after having remained on said bus for a little too long — Mazatlan got a little too real for me. I ended up in da hood, apparently where the buses stop and don’t turn around for a while. Yay, that was fun #butcanwegonow? Don’t get me wrong, I never felt unsafe anywhere in Mazatlan, but I had visited Mazatlan at the start of the low season and there weren’t that many tourist around anyway. After my little bus mistake, I was quickly ready to be in an environment where people expected me to be a tourist so I headed back to the Golden Zone. #spoiled
