This program is great! I would give it more stars if I could. My son is 3 years old and asks to learn his letters so they got the fun part hands down. This and Starfall are the only games I allow him to play, so that could be part of it. I learned Spanish as an adult in a total Spanish immersion program in college. We learned whole words so it took me a while to figure out how they teach young children to read. I no longer live in a Spanish speaking country, and this is the only Spanish online software that I have found that is broad and deep enough in content to begin to teach a young child the written basics of the language. It’s challenging enough but it’s at their level. I’m not a native speaker but I’m fluent. I remember fluency was hard work and lots of repetition. Most spanish learning tools I have found online until Pipo stop at letters and the names of a few animals. Kids know a few words but can’t begin to really learn how to read and spell. Pipo is fun, it’s interactive and the experience is completely customizable. Pipo begins with pictures, goes on to vowel sounds, consonants sounds, consonant vowel combinations to form words… all in a fun and easy to learn format. There are easier activities that seem to have been put there on purpose to give the child a break and just be fun. I suppose even those help with hand eye coordination and learning to use a mouse or track pad. They also build on the same activity making the same activity slightly harder each time, and you can go back and forth between the letters. It also has math, themes, and even English. At first I passed on English, Math and themes but the content and depth is very good, I added Mates, and even though there are great English learning softwares out there for children, I may also add Ingles, just to keep it stream lined. The paid version is miles ahead of the basic stuff they give you on the free part, it was the demo that sold me. It’s about $ 300/year for all parts give and take the value of the Euro. It’s worth every penny. 3 months into it my son knows things that I thought it would take him a while to get. It’s too bad I had to search in Spanish to find it. I may have even had to search for it with instead of Even though they have a robust English language site. It was not even on the first 3 pages in English or in Spanish on the US site. Nothing on this side of the Atlantic comes close! Excellent resource for homeschoolers!
