By far, the best tacos we’ve had in Mexico City. The quesadillas were great too. Friendly waiters and don’t get me started on the prices! If you’re around El Angel, drop by, you wont regret it!

I love street food, and this place gets it pretty close. My favorite tacos will forever be from a food stand near the Hidalgo train station, but Tacos El Caminero gets it pretty close. A hole in the wall, no-fuss kind of place, with lots of indoor and some outdoor seating. I would consider their menu pretty extensive and the service is fast. It’s in a safe part of the city, near the Angel of Independence. I ended up coming here twice, because I couldn’t leave Mexico without making tacos my last meal. Their salsa is on point, and my boyfriend could/did eat it by itself. Would recommend that you always comes with cheese as sometimes the meat can be on the dry side. I’m definitely a fan and would recommend this place for those seeking some delicious tacos.

I had the vegetarian tacos along with a glass of tamarindo. although my husband wasn’t too impressed by the hygiene levels, my eyes were glued to the delicious tacos on our table and the spicy hot salsas placed next to us in small steel cups. The veggie taco was pretty tasty consisting of grilled peppers, mushrooms and onions serve on tacos made of corn flour and melty cheese on top. So good. I loved it.

We arrived late at night, and they took the guacomole and replaced it with a bright fresh bowl. I really appreciated that attention to detail and customer experience. My friend didn’t understand the alcohol menu, so the waiter actually just took her to the back so she could look and pick out her favorite. We tried the«volcan,» which was basically a tasty quesadilla with a flour tortilla. Personally I preferred the quesadillas over the tacos. The quesadillas had a crispy crunch with a generous serving of melted cheese.

very rude waitresses. they could not have cared less. i had chicken tacos and they were really not good. no flavor. the salsas were good. agua de jamaica was just okay. and the orden 3 tacos is about $ 70 pesos now(the photos of the menu on here are old)…way overpriced for the quality. you can get better tacos on the street for $ 7 – 10 pesos/taco. this is not a good restaurant.

So good! We stayed at the Sheraton around the corner and came for a late afternoon snack and left with our bellies full! There are three salsas already on the table. We each ordered three of the tacos especiales, which came with a bunch of extra tortillas and a plate full of lime wedges!

Decent place, the tacos are good but there are better places close by. The service is good, but that’s true of most decent restaurants in DF.

I trusted the reviews, and I’m so glad that I did. After 24 hours of hotel and airline food and snacks I was very ready to eat real authentic Mexican food. The vegetariano was quite good, a bit heavy on the onions, but still good. They have salsas on every table, including salsa verde. The rojo was better, in my opinion.

I love this place! I went twice while staying at the nearby Sheraton Maria Isabel. It’s definitely not a fancy place. I’ve heard so much about the great street tacos in Mexico City but was warned about a US visitor eating from the typical food stand. I’m guessing that the tacos at El Caminero are what people have been telling me about. There is a very simple menu — how many tacos do you want, what meat, what topping. When my wife and I first visited, we get two orders of ‘orden 3 tacos,’ which is your choice of 3 tacos of one meat. We got an order of pollo and an order of pastor. Each order is a big mound of meat served with a pile of small tortillas. I didn’t count the number of tortillas but I guess a taco is considered to use 2 tortillas because there were at least 6 tortillas on the plate. It’s a lot of food. We would have been fine with just one order. Both were excellent. With the tacos, they include 2 salsas(a rojo and a verde) and pico de gallo. They all were nice and spicy, especially the pico. For the pastor, they also give you a plate of fresh pineapple, cilantro and raw onion. Oh my, was this awesome! Nice, spicy meat, freshly prepared to order, and lots of it. We also had a couple of cervezas. The price was very inexpensive — 55 pesos for each order of 3, which is about $ 3.50. Total price was 190 pesos(about $ 12). I also returned another time and got 3 pastor tacos for just myself. Again, awesome. I could eat at El Caminero every day.

I went here twice, the second experience made up for the first when I didn’t know what I was doing. The key is to order 3 tacos of a given type of meat instead of mixing and matching tacos. If you order the mix, you get 3 individually made tacos, and it costs more. If you pick a single type, you get a plate of meat and a stack of tacos. Even though it says 3 tacos it’s easily enough for 5 or 6 and everything is delicious!

They screwed me out of my Cuban torta on my to go order. :(. I was really looking forward to it. I feel like they took advantage of my not so great Spanish. You mark your order on a menu and then they make your food. They handed me my bag and charged me for everything. The food is good but I don’t recommend for the gringo tourist. If you see this review please bring my torta to city express hotel room please!!!

This is a favorite stomping ground for me and my business partners whenever we’re in Mexico City. Some stool seating inside in full view of the cooking area, usually occupied by groups of 3 – 4. Around 3 – 4 small tables outside. Tacos are unbeatable. Servings are large. With the high exchange rates a friend and I paid $ 15 for two huge meals a beer each.

Am staying at the Sheraton and the last thing I’m going to do in Mexico City is order hotel room service. I Unilocaled and this was right around the corner. I gave it a shot and was so happy I did. Best meal i had in Mexico City. Great service and delicious tacos — chicken soup was top notch(I ordered 2) — salsas were fresh — very reasonably priced. Added bonus is that the guy behind the register speaks English. Also, tamarind water was delicious. Will absolutely come here again.

I really LOVE El Caminero … The best Tacos in Mexico City. Every time I fly to Mexico City on business and I have time to escape from fancy restaurants… I walk from The St. Regis or JW Marriott /Polanco, to El Caminero. People are super friendly and the menu options are awesome … delish… Just a few steps away — around Angel de la Independencia and across the US Embassy, El Caminero is my favourite TACO place in D.F. Gracias El Caminero …
