Angel’s Restaurant and Bar and Store

I was dissatisfied because I wanted a better choice of food. But my friends were happy with just tacos. So if you like tacos-it’s probably good for you.

Seldom go there, as the food hasn’t been good, and no music. An amigo said he goes to listen to the musician, who plays my friend’s favorite music when he enters the restaurant!
So went there, entertainer playing for 2 tables of people. Those people looked really boring.
Player did play 4 songs I requested, not very well. He doesn’t sing, either.
Ordered the Mexican plate, and it was horrible. Enchilada flat with brownish sauce over it, rice old tasting, frijoles tasted like out of a can yesterday after sitting on countertop overnight.
The view is pretty spectacular, though!

it’s not Wal*Mart, but this place tries to satisfy most of your shopping needs whether you’re just browsing or you’re on a mission, just remember you will be questioned on your purchases when crossing back over so know what’s allowed upfront. As with most businesses in the area once they capture your attention they do their best to keep you interested and provide you every opportunity to spend your money. Although the traffic can be quite challenging and I made the decision to drive across I really don’t recommend it, the parking lot on the American side is only short walk and you eliminate the risk of getting your car crashed, stolen or broken into. I don’t mean to incite panic it’s really not as scary as it appears but keep in mind if you don’t buy a rider policy with your insurance company you may find yourself with some unexpected expenses because with most policies your coverage ends at the border. When you cross the Mexican border, south of Weslaco, TX, whether you drive or walk across the International Bridge to Nuevo Progreso, Mexico to shop or dine, you can’t go wrong with Angels. Located about a block or so down the right side of the street from the International Bridge, you won’t have any trouble finding this place the door to Angels opens at the corner of the building at a 45-​degree angle to the street so this eliminates any confusion it’s very unique to the area. The streets can get crowded but there are always a few helpful patrons directing you to the nearest open parking spot I highly recommend you reward these self-​appointed parking attendants fairly and let them know you provide gratitudity at the time you park and again when you return, this seems to instill a stronger sense of responsibility and will give you piece of mind.
Angels has a pharmacy, liquor store, a gift shop and always plenty of help offering you plenty of recommendations. Jump on the elevator and go to the 4^th floor and you will find Angels Restaurant, one of the favorite Progreso restaurants for many, if this seems a little to formal for you or you’re pressed for time there are plenty of other options street side that are quick and reasonably priced. I suggest you allow yourself plenty of time to cross back over before sunset the return crossing can get a little backed up.

The restaurant is located on the fourth floor. The store on the first floor has the usual fare. Elevator by main street entrance, and stairs next to it. Two entrances, both have heavy doors to open. There is usually a bartender at the one door, but he never bothers to open it for anyone, even the elderly; just stands with hands behind his back.
Go to fourth floor. Enter a beautiful room with a beautiful view. Bar is in the back, and that’s where the waiters hang out. Yes, all waiters in Nuevo Progreso wear black uniforms, nothing to get excited about.
I have never liked the food or service there in the five years living in the area. For several years I’d go, but no one was in the restaurant, so I’d leave. I like to eat and dance and visit with people. But the last few months some Winter Texans bragged about how wonderful it is.
I still bring out of town visitors here and to The Arizona, to show them the view. Both are beautiful restaurants.
