Excellent breakfasts, coffee and burritos. Ingredients are fresh. Great clean casual atmosphere and the service is efficient. Salsas are tasty and prices are very reasonable.

Ok. If you are American, you’ll probably like this place. I was here recently and it was full of americans, not one local in the restaurant. Instant coffee, canned enchilada sauce, calimax tortillas and totopos, old frijoles, slow, disinterested service makes a perfect American«Mexican» restaurant. If you want real, go somewhere else. If you want pseudo, take a seat and order anything…

Great place for a quick bite to eat, home style food at a reasonable price. Bring cash, as it’s cash only. Make sure to enjoy a fresh smoothie, they are amazing.

Hi. White lady here who will kill for a good menudo. I had it on good advice that this was the right thing to order here, and so, of course, I did. And, of course, I ordered it with pata(the pig’s foot that turns into a glutenous bone-lollipop that needs to be picked up with your fingers and lovingly slurped until clean). That makes it authentico and magnificent beyond words. The broth is rich in flavor and red in color. The tripe is very tender and well cleaned. A judicious amount of hominy. And here they bring a separate dish containing dried oregano, chopped onions and cilantro, chile flakes, and limes. Rub the oregano between your palms, then add copious amounts of all of the above, let the onion simmer for just a moment, then dig in. Within moments you will find yourself so preoccupied you will forget how to speak. Good stuff and plenty of it. Mr. B wanted shrimp in garlic butter(mojo de ajo). He was envious of my shrimp from the night before at Ruben’s, but it paled in comparison. Too bad. The refried beans, now that was another story. So wonderful. It’s the lard, baby, lard. The Mexican hot chocolate was yummy. The chips and salsa? Meh. Save room in your stomach for the soft, hot tortillas that come later. You can use US dollars here, and the wifi is free. Just ask for the password. I don’t need the excuse of a hangover to come here for menudo.

Hangover cure. This is a small, café-like restaurant that I highly recommend going for breakfast and getting any of their huevos plates. I am pretty smitten over chorizo so when I saw that one their menu, I automatically knew what I was getting. It was a true Mexican breakfast and we couldn’t of been happier! They had good, strong coffee — and of course it was also accompanied by chips and salsa. The waitress was very friendly and didn’t speak English, but we knew enough to communicate our order. When she brought us our bill, she did write the total about in American dollars which was very thoughtful of her. Bonus: they have wifi!

Glad we can Unilocal in Baja now. We’ve been coming to this restaurant for few years now and always come here and order breakfast and occasionally dinner. My babe always gets the delicious chilaquiles verdes. I usually get the machaca ranchera with nopales. We love this restaurant!!! Hidden gem in Primo Tapia

Like the sign says: breakfast, pozole, menudo and antojitos(café-like food). This is a small, family run operation with mom and the kids doing the work. Think of this like a Baja California DINER. They do whatever they can make in the kitchen. They make anything that involves tortillas, meats, cheese, sauce, salsa and onions. They serve from 8 am to 6 pm and are closed on Wednesdays. There is an extensive breakfast menu of eggs done in many ways. Try the chilaquiles with chorizo for a flavor hit. There are menudo and pozole available every day — a good thing. On more than one occasion Mi Ranchito menudo has saved my life from a head splitting hangover. It is magic in a bowl. All the breakfast meals are really low cost, so don’t expect to spend more than $ 5 for a huge breakfast. The coffee is hot, thin and not so good, but the OJ is squeezed from oranges when you order it — outstanding. The rest of the day, you can stop in and get all the normal meals available at any local restaurant in Baja at a price that will certainly please you. Perhaps needless to say, but this is a popular hangout for locals(even some Americans) and everyone is friendly. If you speak Spanish, you can collect some of the local gossip about Northern Baja. For the gringos in the Unilocal community(who seem to rate all Mexican restaurants by the same measure), the rice, beans, chips and salsa are really good. Mi Ranchito is located in Cantamar(Primo Tapia) about 11 miles south of downtown Rosarito Beach along the ocean. From the toll(cuota) road you take the Cantamar(Primo Tapia) exit at marker KM53 and go two blocks south. Primo Tapia has some of the best local restaurants without the crowds, noise and bad behavior of the low-life tourists in Rosarito Beach.
