Phenomenal on any scale. Not fancy or snooty. Really good food good portions and dirt cheap. A true gem of a find(very popular). Located next to Penasco del Sol Hotel. Tiny tiny place with plenty of parking. Food is excellent and service is good. Enjoy.

Great breakfast across Pensaco Del sol hotel! Great smiling girls who gave great service. Highly recommend! Only take cash… a little pricey

Great place for breakfast for sure! What a killer Bloody Mary! It had a huge jalapeño and other tasty garnishments that really added a punch to the over-all presentation and taste of the drink! It was sooo good that it even turned the one of us who is a non Bloody Mary drinker into one for that morning. As we sat on the patio we were able to do some people watching and enjoy a quiet Tuesday morning. We ordered the chorizo omelette and breakfast enchiladas. Both were very flavorful and well worth the short walk from Sandy Beach. The view wasn’t worth all that much being on a side street, but the food made up for that. We will definitely come back and try out their dinner options and listen to some live music the next time we come to town. I would say that the reason we gave Max’s a 4 star instead of 5 is that they don’t take credit cards(cash only), and service was a little bit slow. Granted service is much slower in Mexico all the way around… But this was really, really slow. We had to track our server down to get our second drink and then again to pay the tab.

My friend and I were visiting for the weekend from Phoenix and stayed across the street at Penasco Del Sol. They had really friendly staff, delicious bloody Mary’s. They even made us tortilla chips to order! When my friend accidentally ate a raw jalapeño, the staff and patrons were quick to help with milk, etc– it was pretty funny for all of us! Went back for dinner and the food was delicious! It’s a small place that was packed, but service was still excellent! They also have a great selection of ice cream! Perfect place to kick back and relax! English speaking too.

We went here before heading out and I definitely will be returning next time I’m in RP. I ordered the shrimp tacos(which are always hit or miss at restaurants over here) and they were very good! Customer service was great as well. Definitely a popular«American» place to eat and worth a try for sure!

A deceptive little pizza place with an amazing food problem! At first glance during the day this small place on a side street in Rocky Point Mexico does not attract. But when you go there you are in for some delicious food with wonderful friendly service and an attentive owner. We had dinner there our first evening and sat outside enjoying a cocktail and a live guitar. At first we thought it was a pizza place but after reading the menu and looking at the specials(Fresh fish and a Chateaubriand!!) we decided to have the flounder and the Beef and seafood kabobs. The fish was fantastic and served with veggies and a salad. The kabobs were shrimp and filet that was extremely tender and tasty. Served at our table by Max himself! Our experience was so good we returned the next morning for breakfast and the bloody mary and breakfast sandwiches were great! We did not try the Pizza but were assured by many that it was fantastic. The area near the rest is not the greatest but Max’s is!

Food alone, this place would probably get 2 – 3 stars… but then you bring Max’s Famous Bloody Mary in to the equation and bam! 4 stars. They are pretty big, so two of those will really get your day started right while in Rocky Point.

Bad experience. Service took forever, like they forgot our group of 8 was there. Chateaubriand was disappointing Not returning if I can help it.

Ate here with a friend on a motorcycle trip down in to mexico. Great Food, Awesome Bloody Mary. Locals all eat here before going for nightlife next door at South Side Jills. We will be back again. Cash Only as a lot of Rocky Point places are, no problem though.

Good if you’re looking for American food in Mexico. I had the tropical smoothie, but the berry smoothie is more flavorful. The 5 $ carne Asada quesadilla is delicious. The salad tasted like it had been washed in cleaner, unfortunately. I would go back if I wanted American food.

Great place for late breakfast. Quick, good portions, and right price. Bloody Mary’s are impressive. Close to the hotels but also easy drive from condos. Cash only which is getting rare here. Very clean. Friendly staff and English is no problem.

Stopped here in the morning before we headed back to phx. We really wanted to go to kaffee haus but the wait was too long. Max’s was cute and definitely had more of an American feel to it. The servers were nice but seemed a little out of it and talking amongst themselves. We did not try the bloody mary because we were about to drive across the border, but they looked pretty crazy. My boyfriend got the chorizo and egg plate and I got the breakfast burrito. Both entres were good but not great. Coffee was good. I would recommend if you are looking for something fairly americanized and pretty good. Would go back for breakfast possibly.

I really do like this place. Terrific Bloody Mary’s, very good menu, and solid WiFi. The ‘60s station, bad exchange rate, and cash-only policy are drawbacks if you don’t carry pesos, though(you should, of course; it’s Mexico).

This place is very good. The service to me though was what kept it from being a five star in my book. It was friendly service it just took my meal a little too long to get it to me. Other than that I can’t complain about this place. Decent atmosphere and great food to go with it. Well done

Ay Caramba! I’ve been here twice. Just recently this summer and last summer. The experience and the food has gone downhill since our first dining experience. My husband and I agreed, they should call the place Surly’s. Our order was taken a good 20 minutes after we sat down and they weren’t terribly busy. Apparently, we ruined our waitress’ day by just showing up. When our food came, the waitress dumped my son’s pancakes on the table and we had to hunt down a staff member to get syrup for his pancakes. My omelet was spinach and mushroom. So no fish in my omelet but tasted fishy and almost rotten. My husband’s breakfast dish was mediocre at best. Bleh! The older guy that works there(Max perhaps?) seemed to be the only saving grace in that at least he refilled my coffee. Won’t be dining there again.

This place is sooooo delicious Mexican and American style. The Bloody Mary’s are probably the best that I have ever had. The atmosphere is cute and the wait staff is so friendly and understands English. I am Gluten free and they modified my Ranchero style Ross with corn tortillas.

Coconut shrimp done very well. Ordered shrimp in garlic lemon sauce. Came with pasta cooked perfectly al dente, veggies and garlic bread. Everything fresh, cooked well and seasoned very nicely. Good flavors all around. Chicken tortilla soup just ok. Cash only is pretty lame but you should probably have cash on hand in Rocky Point. Sit outside No AC inside.

We dined alfresco here 3 days ago and had a nice dining experience. It was a dry(no alcohol; elections) weekend, so a number of our favorite restaurants were closed, but we like the comfort of the consistency of their menu and their fluency in English, so here we dined. And they were open. Companion chose the Shrimp/Linguine in Lemon-Butter with veggie(zucchini). He liked it enough to mention that he would maybe order it again. I ordered salmon which was pretty well prepared. Our salads were a nice size(grape tomatoes cut in half; REALLY Max?) with our choice of dressing and kind of an enlarged croûton for bread. Our tab was around $ 40 for the food, bottled water and iced tea. I’ve eaten here in the past and have found the pizza mediocre. A friend raved about it, so perhaps my expectations were too high. I’ve also had their Eggs Benedict, and it was probably the best value EB I’ve ever eaten. It was perfectly prepared and cost around $ 6. I had a Bloody Mary at that same time, and it was pretty darn good. There are a couple(or 3) things to note: They only accept cash. They assess 16% tax. We honestly haven’t noticed or cared enough to check if the other restaurants do the same. Maybe Max is just being upfront and honest about it with the posted information on the door/window. The air conditioning has never been on, in the indoor portion of the restaurant, when we’ve eaten there. We’ve eaten outdoors in front or on the sidewalk(it’s fairly nice), but the heat and humidity can be oppressive because the restaurant is a little boxed in with little breeze to cool us. So. There you have it. My(our) opinion. Max’s is a solid, dependable restaurant for American cuisine. Bring cash and note the weather conditions. Enjoy!

My friend chose this place after doing some research on TripAdvisor and it’s a solid place for those wanting comfort food. Max’s caters to the American tourists who flock to Puerto Peñasco for an ocean getaway and menus are in pesos and dollars. Our server was nice enough and my salmon was pretty good; the asparagus may have been cooked a wee bit too long though. No vegetarian options, FYI. My friend thoroughly enjoyed her shrimp pasta, claiming that it made her tummy happy. We had room for dessert and walked next door to the ice cream shop, which is managed by Max’s(pay for your treats inside Max’s Café, not the ice cream shop). I wanted a cookie, not ice cream, and bought a chocolate cookie, which was quite bland and lacking that full chocolate flavor. Not a bad place overall, but since there are so many other restaurants in the area, it’s not likely I’ll make a return visit.
