We dined here with some friends during Restaurant Week 2016. It was everyone’s first time here and we were all excited to try it. It’s a gorgeous setting with an inside and a courtyard seating area. We chose courtyard with lots of plants and strung lights. There were fans everywhere to keep us cool. We were handed both standard and RW menus. Everyone chose RW and had gazpacho to start. My friend and I had the Malbec, boyfriend wasn’t feeling so hot, so he had a sprite. For our mains, boyfriend and I ordered the ginger chicken and our friends the shrimp pastas. They didn’t like theirs, but ours was quite delicious. Boyfriend and I had the rice pudding, friend and her boyfriend had the margaritas. This was our 2nd most expensive meal at 1400 pesos for the 4 of us. I really enjoyed it and will definitely return on a future trip.

Second time here in two days and this was even better than the first visit. The Almond Chicken was awesome!

Probably the best Chinese restaurant in town. Nice looking place and the staff is helpful, friendly and efficient. It’s a very busy place and can be noisy if you hit it at the wrong time. I suppose by PV standards this place would get at least 4 stars. Those coming from the US and judging on that basis would give it just a 3 star OK. Can’t say that I was blown away by any one particular dish to recommend. Give them a try. Don’t think you will be disappointed if you keep your expectations down.

Surprisingly good Asian cuisine in downtown. Inside is beautifully decorated with plenty of seating areas. Our party of 4 sat in a spacious corner of the restaurant. Food was very good — Thai shrimp, fish of the day wrapped in banana leaves, Thai noodles with chicken and shrimp and a vegetarian dish. Waiters were attentive and friendly. Always amazed at how little it costs to eat an amazing meal that would double in the states.

First review for me. During our recent week in Puerto Vallarta, we needed a change from our all-inclusive menu. Archie’s hit the spot. The food was great, service superb as was the atmosphere. We had a table near the window and could watch the comings and goings on the street. I would highly recommend it, and oh by the way, try the egg rolls!

A great find in a great location. The atmosphere is wonderful and the service is top notch. I’m putting this place on my list of go to restaurants in PV.

Really good! We started with the calamari and the cucumbers. Yum!!! The cukes are so simple and delicious. The calamari was just okay. The cocktails were great. The mango and strawberry margaritas were cold and yummy. The Vallarta Breeze too. Then we had the Chang Mai Shrimp, fried rice, and the Spicy Thai Noodles. None of it was spicy, but the flavors were good. Would definitely return if we were back in PV. Yummy and good service too!

I cannot begin to describe how heavenly food is here. We started with a coleslaw salad(don’t even remember the name) and a small plate of fried calamari. The wasabi was slpendid and soft, the right amount of spice. Then the ribs, the beef tongue in peanut sauce and the spicy wok. Everything was on another league. The place might look a bit old, but as soon as your palate is stimulated you’re transportated to heaven. Every wok in this side(The Americas) of the world should take note of this fine cuisine. Didn’t take pics cause ate too fast and am aware of my life.

From the greeting at the front door through our departure this experience was 5 stars. We tried to get in on our last trip during high season but the wait was long and we were starving. Luckily, this time we were early amd got right in. We started with the chinese cucumbers with sesame seeds and rice wine vinegar. They were incredible. For entrees one of us had the ribs, which were NOTHING like ribs you are used to… they were amazing! I had the fish wrapped in banana leaves. It was the most aromatic flavored fish I have even had. The finale… Lime cheese cake: for a non-dessert eater is was a slice of heaven. Do not come to PV and miss this place. It is one of if not the best restaurant here!

Over the years this place has evolved into wonderful Asian Fusion from more mainstream Chinese. This is also great place when you want to find really top notch vegetarian dishes. We had a starter of Chinese Sesame Cucumbers(and mojitos). My young daughter could not stop eating the cucumbers! For main course, we had the Thai Curried Vegetable Stir Fry, the Drunken Noodles, and Yang Chow Fried Rice… all wonderful. Desert — the Flan Cocotiki… amazing!

This is the first restaurant we ate at when we arrived the food was amazing service was great and the inside of the restaurant was adorable along with air conditioned. I will definitely be returning to try more of their Thai dishes. It’s a great treat between burritos and enchiladas.

On a particularly rainy night when i wasnt feeling my best, we decided on chinese as a break from seafood and mexican food. After reading their menu online, i called and ordered 4 dishes and was able to get them as carry out. They quoted me 10 minutes and everything was ready when i arrived. My friend had the chicken sate which he liked and the pad thai, which was made using soba noodles instead of rice noodles(not my cup of tea, but my friend ate half that night and the rest for lunch the next day.) I had a ginger vegetable dish made with fresh ginger as well as the coconut rice. I especially liked the coconut rice. I too reheated it all together the next day for lunch. If you are used to chinese food from San Francisco or NYC you will not be impressed. But as a change of pace in PV, given the other options, it was not bad. All 4 dishes 480 pesos($ 32USD)

Nice place to dine. Hubby and I went to eat a late lunch. Had all four courses, and food was fresh and very good. I’m not sure since this being our first time perhaps we didn’t know what to order, but our dishes lacked a bit of seasoning for our pallets. Otherwise, we loved the experience. We will come again if ever in PV. And we love the back story of the restaurant, and the love that’s there.

Always a favorite and nice to have a night off from Mexican food. The food is wonderful and the atmosphere is great. My only complaint is the margaritas are always ¾ full. It is obvious they are trying to save a few bucks. I am hoping the two owners who are brother and sister read this. They really need to make sure they aren’t cutting corners on the drinks.

I don’t give 5 stars I never thought to come for Asian food in Mexico, but we had a recommendation from a trusted friend. Absolutely delicious. The shrimp coconut soup was the star appetizer. I had the Cambodian Beef, my son had red chicken curry and my wife had sea bass wrapped in Banana Leaves. They all deserve 5 stars! I can’t really post pictures because we are it too fast!!!

Wonderful fresh food, spiritual atmosphere and the service was impeccable. Such a great break from the Mexican food all abound. I loved the Curry Fried Rice and the Gingery Stir Fry Veggies. We went twice while we were here and just loved it. Well run restaurant!

This is based on one meal & one dish(green chicken curry) and one drink(honey/ginger). Fabulous food, good service and a casual atmosphere. Great change of pace from all the Mexican food and close to one of our favorite restaurants, La Palapa.

My husband was craving Thai food(yes, we came all the way to Mexico and he wanted Thai food) I did a quick Unilocal search and up popped Archie’s Wok. Asia Fusion sounded good to us, it was a short walk away and the reviews were great. We were not disappointed! We were seated right away in the lovely back open garden(what a beautifully decorated zen like garden) We ordered Tamarind Margaritas as we were craving them and it turned out to be the best one of the trip. We ordered the Calamari which is in a light beer batter that was almost tempura like as an app, delightful with lovely dipping sauces. For entrees we ordered the coconut fried rice in yellow curry with chicken, the green curry chicken and the spicy fried noodles in red curry paste(a nice spice dried Pad Thai). Each dish was perfectly done, looked and tasted wonderful. If you are looking for a break from the wonderful local cuisine but still want some spice I highly recommend a trip to Archie’s Wok. We have a fair amount of Thai places back in Portland Ore, and if Archie’s was located there it would quickly become our favorite go to place.

This place has been a long time favorite of ours. By way of background, Archie(who was Filipino — he died a number of years ago) was John Huston’s personal chef when the famous director was making Night of the Iguana. He stayed on after Huston departed and his family still runs his namesake restaurant. It’s a great Asian«fusion» place(some Filipino, some Thai, some Chinese) to escape the guacamole/chips and margarita«overload» which can develop if you’re in town for an extended visit. And, it’s a lovely, serene respite from the generally more raucous tourist joints. The biggest downside is that they don’t take reservations which led to a very frustrating visit this trip where we put our name on the list, waited 45 minutes on the sidewalk, and were ultimately told that they didn’t think they’d get to us. Grrr. We returned though and to their credit they totally made things right so we’re friends again. What keeps this from being what I would normally say is a 5 star experience is that the portions have shrunk significantly this season and prices are noticeably higher. Still excellent food and service and we continue to recommend it but it’s not quite as good a value. We used to love to order a number of dishes and share but with prices up and portions shrinking that’s not such a good idea these days. They have a menu stand just outside the front door so you can review the menu/prices before making a decision about dining here and I’d suggest you give it a glance. These are U.S. prices or more for sure.
