P.D. Pidan para llevar

I’d heard so much about the«famous» gorditas offered in Querétaro. Certainly, after climbing la Peña de Bernal I was quite hungry, and after returning to the base, we found Doña Coco selling gorditas. It seemed like as good a place as any, so we gave them a whirl. The reality is that I enjoyed my first gordita(pork), but was underwhelmed with my second(chorizo). They were far less greasy than those I’ve found in D.F., and I appreciated that difference. Still, they weren’t so amazing that I needed to go out of my way to try them. The salsa was good. The atmosphere was weak. I wish I had more positive to say about this place.

Dona coco’s is a little gordita restaurant at the base of pena bernal. Lovely patio area with a view of the town. I’m no gordita afficianado, but these seemed to be pretty good but not great. I tried one with nopal and cameron and was surprised that the cameron was really shrimp based fried bread? Not sure how to describe it but it was not just shrimp. Still, tasty. I also tried a mushroom gordita and really liked that one. I think the patio area is the real draw to this place.
