I don’t understand the hype about this place. You have to be there right when they open to make a reservation for the teppanyaki tables or it is first come first served for the regular ala carte tables. I tried it both ways during my most recent vacation at the Moon Palace. The interior of the place is nice and traditional Japanese /East Asian themed and that’s about where traditional stops. You are served an appetizer tray of random things like fried chicken on a skewer, chicken yakitori, a couple random pieces of sushi and then sauces that are so jacked it was weird. They had soy sauce mixed with ketchup and another mixed with orange juice. The third was soy sauce that had jalapeño in it. That one was semi tasty. The dinner at the teppanyaki was very slow. We sat there at the grill and were served the standard weird appetizer tray. We had to share each tray between two people. We placed our order and then waited about 30 mins for the chef to arrive. If you have ever been to a teppanyaki based steak house or grill house the show is much the same. This show was similar to the rest but not as flashy or much flare compared to others I have been to in various cities. The dinner at the regular tables was not as slow as the other service. Our waiter was friendly and we received our food pretty quickly. Here I had yakisoba which I ordered with just pork. The waited asked if I was sure I wanted just that and not the mix which was supposedly pork and other seafood. I went with his suggestion. Wrong answer. The mix was about 98% seafood. Some shrimp and then a bunch of what I assume were squid or octopus. The flavor was fine and nothing was ill prepared but I only found 1 piece of pork in the whole dish that was about the size of an M&M. I don’t think I would take the hassle to come back to this place when there are plenty of other dining options nearby.

Overall ok; this place gets hyped up. I suppose it’s better than other options. Make a reservation at 5 to see a show… the place opens at 6pm .we had reservations for 9pm because we were a party of 16 and got in line at 530! They seated us rather quickly and on time. The service was OK(a bit slow and they hesitated on giving me extra ginger!) The food was alright. The chicken skewer on the appetizer was delicious but cold. The salmon sashimi was warm and definitely not good. My cousin enjoyed the deep fried ice cream The ahi tuna sashimi was fresh and smooth. Yum. The edamame was basic. Can’t go wrong here. The sushi was good(not the best but decent.) The Miso soup had butter in it and was almost inedible for me as I don’t like over saturation. I ordered the chicken and salmon for teppinyaki. Both came out super dry and overcooked even though the chef used a ton of butter! My cousin ordered the beef and said it was chewy(a lot of fat on it) and the shrimp was basic; nothing to brag about. The vegetables were alright. a little oily. Lacked flavor overall. I’m impressed they have decaf green tea :-)

You have to make a reservation in person. You should be there before 4:45 to make a reservation for tafanyaki. — fried ice cream was awesome.

A-OK, yea that described my experience at this restaurant. No reservations needed. It’s right in front of the Club in Sunrise. Very very gorgeous décor. Dim lighting. Came here twice, one day after another. The first experience was grand. We went in around 10:30 pm. Restaurant was empty so that explains the impeccable service and no wait time on the food. When we came this night we received two free plates of appetizers. They had about 5 different things. Also with accompanied with the trio of sauces. The second experience was horrid. Service was terrible and food took forever. I’ve tried the miso soup tempura udon, and chicken and beef hibachi entrée with a side of rice. The miso soup the first day was super salty. The second day it was much better but no tofu. The tempura udon was really good, those noodles are thick but they hold so much flavor. The sauce was delicious oh em gee, that would be good with some steamed dumplings. It was sweet yet savory. The tempura shrimp on top of the udon was alright, over cooked and was not deveined so it grossed me out. For dessert I enjoyed the lychee ice cream that comes with the coffee jelly. Yum it was so fresh and refreshing. It is served in a martini glass with some coffee. The jelly I didn’t care for. All in all an OK kind of place. It would be 5 stars if it was consistent.

Definitely recommend the hibachi if you’re staying at the Moon Palace. You have to make a reservation in person but we were able to get seats the same night. The food wasn’t amazing but the experience and the environment were great.

As a package for the Moon Palace Resort, you can enter and eat anywhere you want within the three complexes of the resort. We wanted to try all the places and ended up at Momo, which serves Japanese cuisine. Out of all the buffets and other restaurants we’ve been to for this whole trip, Momo was definitely the best. You can choose anything and everything on the menu as long as you can finish, very elegant, they serve you as if you’re eating at a high quality course restaurant. From A to Z, there was nothing that was not good. Absolutely worth the money was my thought after leaving this restaurant. When we had 750 resort credits that ended up useless, this restaurant reassured is that it wasn’t all too bad. If you’re on vacation in Cancun at the Moon Palace Resort, do make sure to check out Momo.

Moon palace does an excellent job at making you feel comfortable and taken care of and MoMo was no exception. If you aren’t lucky enough to get seated at the hibachi table, you won’t miss much except for the show. The staff is friendly, the menu is easy to navigate and the food is as good as Mexican-Asian infused can get in Cancun. This ranked as my #3 or #4 restaurant in the entire resort just because there are so many options to choose from.
