I spend a lot of time at Home Depot and Lowes. So when I go out of my general area(SoCal), I just have to check them out in a different setting. This is the third or fourth time that I’ve been here. The workers are extremely friendly and go way out of their way to help customers. This is a big plus — wish the stores in the LA&SD areas were as good in this regard.(Though Lake Elsinore customer service is pretty good — should write a review…) But the real great benefit of shopping here is that you can buy stuff that is not available in the US. My latest discovery is gas cans that don’t comply with EPA regulations! So here’s the scoop: In California, you cannot buy a gas can unless it has a special«restricted» nozzle. As a result, the lowest priced 5-gallon gas can is around $ 20. The dirty little secret is that these cans are horrible! Read the reviews! I have one that I use to refill the tank on a pontoon boat that I keep in the water on Canyon Lake. It is impossible to fill the tank with the EPA mandated contraption without spilling a significant amount of gas — often into the water! And I am not the only one. So a couple of weeks ago I picked up a 20 liter can(approximately 5 gallons). Simple spout and air release valve — very easy to use and very little hazard of spilling. And the best part? Just under $ 5!!! So I told our gardener and painter about them, and yesterday picked up five more for them… (Let’s keep this our little secret…)
