The sandwiches at Drakos were fantastic. I’m not usually the kind of guy who is interested in just grabbing a sandwich for lunch, but Drakos has taken the«sandwich» to the next level. These were each culinary creations in the form of a sandwich. Some open-faced, some not, all good. My wife and I shared BBQ pork(open-face) and a roast beef sandwiches. The latter came with au jus. We also order the Pork Buns, which sounded Chinese by the description, yet were something else entirely on their own. Still good. I put the house chili-oil sauce(actually Chinese-like) all over everything to add a little kick to the meal. And, to wash it all down we drank the restaurant’s homemade sodas(lemon and ginger). Additionally, the atmosphere felt hip and contemporary. The only problem I had, as a visitor from out of town, was how far it was from the Centro Historico. It took about 30 minutes to walk here from the Zocalo. Yet, for any locals with a car, the spot would be easy to access, right on Avenida Universidad. Drakos was definitely a place I would enjoy spending a lot of time.

What a find! Really cute little sandwich shop. It’s not in the centro, but isn’t too far either. Worth the trek! The décor is modern and cute. I started with a house made soda in ginger grapefruit. Really gingery and tasty. Apparently they have different flavors often– they had maybe 6 available when I was there. I tried the Chinese buns to start, which really could serve as a main course because they are big. They were bready buns(not like a traditional Chinese bun like I expected) with sauce, chunks of bacon and cucumber. Really good. We split the roast beef dip and the open faced BBQ pork. Both were really good — quality ingredients and classic flavors. All in all, I really enjoyed the ambiance and the food. Left very very full!
