Amazingly delicious vegan food — but a few too many mosquitos. I was eaten alive but worth every minute. The drinks were to die for as well! A must visit when in Tulum!

I love this vegan scene! A bit of a hike out of the way from the beach and tucked inside a little junglesque area, so mosquitos were frequent, but it was worth it! They even give you all natural mosquito repellent to apply and it smells good. Also, they try their best to smoke the mosquitos out too. The food is so good and felt so healthy! We got a oyster mushroom ceviche appetizer with yucca chips and it tasted so much like normal ceviche just with mushrooms. So yum. I loved the yucca chips too. We also both got a watermelon mint drink which was sooo refreshing. And food-wise, we got the local mole which was good. I wasn’t sure what to expect but it had mushrooms, zucchini, squash and seeds of all varieties. The mole sauce was very heavy and paprika/peppery taste. I’m not sure I loved it so much just bc it doused my rice and I usually like to control my rice to sauce portions. Otherwise, I liked this place a lot. Service is so nice too! Overall, pretty awesome, aside from the blood-sucking buggies!

Loved it! I’m not vegan, or even vegetarian, but I appreciate when people do tasty, creative things with plant-based foods, and this food was really good. The pepita sauce was delish, and the coconut ceviche was a revelation. The dog following the(owner?) around was adorable.

Excellent food! Hard to find because the restaurant is basically a jungle — and it’s a bit out of the way if you’re getting there from Akumal or farther away — and WELL worth the effort! The food is amazing — their mole is great! The tortillas are the best. Customer service is really fantastic. Restaurare was undergoing some expansion — building a market and some other buildings when I was there. Prettiest bathroom ever on an open second story with toilets in separate little stalls not separated by gender with a pair of big basins overlooking the garden/restaurant. Be forewarned — mosquitos. Wear long sleeves/pants or lather up with bug repellent as the bugs abound.

Jungle side so lots of bugs and things to keep bugs away. And no breeze. But very cool setting. No liquor cocktails was a bummer. Decided to just have an appetizer and drink but the soy taco was fantastic, one of the best things we had on the trip.

What a place! The jungle like outdoor atmosphere was pretty awesome! The waitress made our experience amazing! We didn’t have any food so my 5 stars is solely based on drinks, service, and the ambiance. They have delicious wine cocktails, and as I wasn’t sure at first, I had the cielo rojo and it was awesome. They have delightful juices as well and delicious coffee. Yes, I tried all of these, I was thirsty! The presentation of them was art also. This place is pretty awesome for a vegan place, they have thought of many unique things and I plan to stop back the next time I’m in town to check out their food! They also have free wifi, and cool sounds! One thing I will say, is wear your bug spray, but they do supply that also. You’re in the jungle!

This place was just OK. It was nothing to write home about, but everything was good. Restaurare is often mentioned in guides as THE vegetarian restaurant in Tulum, but I have a feeling that this is because it’s a «safe» option for travel writers or hotel staff looking to fill the«vegan recommendation» spot. Most people don’t take the time to find the hidden gems(like some of the places in town or Charly’s). However, I’m happy that there is a vegan contribution to the«upmarket» strip of tourist restaurants near the pricier hotels. I also love their general ethos of sustainability, and if I wanted to splurge + was feeling too lazy to venture into town, I would return just because I appreciate and want to support those who strive to build a better world.

Another stellar standout in a town full of knockout restaurants! I celebrated my birthday dinner at Restauraré and it ended up being one of the highlights of my solo trip to Tulum. The setting, underneath the palms, with good music, the incredible scent of copal incense burning, was magical. The service was attentive, friendly, enthusiastic and made me feel great as a solo diner, on my birthday no less. As for the food — Dios Mio! It was incredible. I finally had a chance to try VEGAN cochinita pibil tacos which were mildly spciy and oh so damn freaking delicious. Seriously. I could of even 9 of them. They were amazing. I also had the Peanut Chile Pipian which was truly out of this world — one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. So so so good. I also enjoyed their selection of freshly made juices — all of which were refreshing and delicious. Whether you’re vegetarian, vegan or a meathead — you’ll truly enjoy the food at this place. It was amazing!

Excellently prepared and innovative food in a beautifully atmospheric jungle setting. But for me the standout items were our delicious wine cocktails. The service was friendly and attentive, and thanks to a few squirts of bug spray we didn’t get bitten. I definitely recommend this place, especially if you want something a bit different to the standard Mexican fare while still enjoying some unique local flavours. Why not five stars? While the food(my date and I shared the mole and the curry) was definitely tasty it didn’t blow my socks off. Can’t really put my finger on why, because the ingredients were all very fresh and the portion sizes were perfect. Being very picky here but maybe the presentation was a bit bland. Also I found the tale of the reviewer with the nut allergy quite worrying(while noting that our experience of the service was exemplary).

Restaurare is a must try when in Tulum. Even if you’re not a vegan/vegetarian, you’ll appreciate the freshness and flavor of the ingredients. The setting alone is something to experience. The restaurant is outdoor seating. You dine under shades of trees and palms. It was a romantic meal with the moon peeking through the palms. If you’re worried about mosquitos, don’t be. Organic homemade bug repellent is provided. My husband and I shared a mushroom ceviche. It was so good! I enjoyed the lemony/acidity of the dish. It was a refreshing start to our meal. It was served with home-baked potato & sweet potato chips. I ordered the local mole(pumpkin/zucchini, oyster mushroom and onion in spices, chillies and chocolate sauce). I really enjoyed it. The nice surprise was the pieces of what I believed to be bananas incorporated in the dish. The sweetness helped balanced the spices and chillies of the sauce. Our servers(who I think are also the owners?) were so sweet and kind! I can tell they really enjoy what they do. The vibe of the whole place was simply wonderful. It was a beautiful experience at Restaurare. I hope to be back again soon!

The food was quite excellent. Great to see an all vegan restaurant. We had mushroom ceviche and pibil tacos to start. The pibil tacos were super spicy and to salty unfortunately. The mushroom ceviche was sooo good. Cant remember what we had for main course but they were superb. The cocktails could have been stronger. Highly highly recommend this place.

To echo others sentiments can’t even begin to do justice to the experience that is Resturare. It was an integral part in igniting a love affair with Tulum. Food that can’t be compared to anything, because you have never had anything similar.

I visited this restaurant twice on my trip to Tulum and found it one of the best vegan/vegetarian restaurants I’ve been to in years! Restauraré is a welcomed change and to find something this great on vacation, especially for someone like me– a very long-time vegetarian! On my first occasion, we shared a bunch of different items, each one as good as the next from the Arugula salad with nuts and seeds and amazing dressing, to the veggie pibil tacos and the green curry/coconut milk carrot noodles with tofu… even the coffee and the nut ball for dessert was awesome. The food is unbelievably tasty with loads of flavor. You don’t have to be a vegetarian to enjoy this food. Next occasion at Restaurare was with another set of friends, both Vegans as well and in town for the Vegan Fest, we had a smörgåsbord of food at the table! From appetizers like the lettuce wraps and again the veggie pibil tacos to main plates like the coconut ceviche and a mushroom bowl, to the mole dish with veggies and tofu and homemade corn tortillas(OMG!), and the momo tofu which I devoured… was made with a rice and veggies base and then tofu wrapped in a chaya or some other local flavorful leaf and special sauce that was to die for. I cannot even begin to explain the burst of different flavors we experienced and I will definitely be back there on my next trip to Tulum and I highly recommend to anyone in the area… vegetarian or not. Best food ever.

I would like to add to the praise for this place. The atmosphere is amazing; truly dining in the jungle. I second the reviewers that say even the trip to the bathroom is a cool experience. The food was the best I’ve had here in Tulum. The mole and ceviche were so good. I am not vegan or even vegetarian but this food was so flavorful I did not miss the meat one bit. My only criticisms would be that the constant moan of the generator took away from the experience a bit. Also they constantly burned something that smoked and kept the bugs away, and while I’m grateful that I was not being eaten by bugs, the smell and smoke was slightly annoying. Service was great. Food was awesome. Prices were very good. You gotta check this place out if visiting Tulum.

One of those rare places that makes vegan food that doesn’t suck and can make us veggie-loving non-vegans happy campers. Got the papaya mezcal drink – it was the bee’s knees.

My friend and I had a great dinner here. The tables are set among the trees so you are basically eating right in the jungle, surrounded by candles and torches. If you find nightime jungle dining romantic and not mosquite bite/jaguar stalking inducing then you’ll have a great dinner here(I happen to be a jungle dining romantic). Their standards are the coconut ceviche which was very interesting and yummy and a mushroom ceviche which we both split. We also had the mole also which I really loved, it was studded with pieces of fruit in a delicious mole sauce. We also had some great juices which I don’t really remember that well except mine had ginger in it. Definitely recommended(just watch your steps on the way to the bathroom to avoid tripping and getting a twisted ankle in the middle of the pitch black jungle).

Best vegan food I have had anywhere in the world! I love to travel and try new foods and this meal was not just a fantastic vegan meal, it was a fantastic meal. Even my friend who eats meat said it was the best mole she has ever had! If you are in Tulum, eat dinner here, it will be one culinary adventure you’ll definitely remember!
