Excellent winery in Valle de Guadalupe on the property of Villa del Valle, near famed restaurant Corazon de Tierra. We were told that the valley is not only becoming quickly known for just food and wine, but architecture as well. Vena Cava is an example of that with its use of reclaimed boats for the roof. It’s really a cool site to see. The inside is very humble. You see the barebones of the winemaking process, and I would imagine it’s really as they say– that the valley is before Napa became Napa. The wine tasting room is nice with A/C and another cool view of the boat roof. They do wine tastings at the top of every hour. I would email in advance because there aren’t established hours, so I’m not sure when they start/end and if they are open every day. The tasting was $ 13/person with 5 tastings. They also provide a small plate of bread and olive oil. We had: — Sauvignon Blanc– smelled fruity and sweet, but surprisingly dry, one of my favorites — Rose– also dry, one of my least favorites — Tempranillo– won Toast of the Coast and other awards, spicy, also another favorite — Big Blend– very easy to drink — Small Blend– full bodied Take home bottles range in price from $ 20 – 30. Be careful if you’re going back to the US though– the limit is one bottle. Credit cards and USD accepted. There’s a delicious food truck(Troika) on site, so you’ll be able to pair your wine with some good food.
