Unassuming décor. Well prepared grown-up menu. Try the excellent avocado and crab dish.

The new kid on the block on the Colonia Madera restaurant row. Owned and operated by the folks at Kan Kau just up the hill past Hotel Irma. Opened a year ago. Wow. An impressive place that raises the bar for the whole street. Reasonable prices and a great menu with options that will please vegetarians(and vegans), pescatarians, and carnivores. A lovely setting and ambience accompany attentive service. They serve complimentary bread with a delicious basil sauce. The salads are perfect: crisp, fresh and tastefully seasoned and dressed. Our two entrees included the grilled vegetables, which were delicious and the red snapper, which evoked moans of «OMG». Wine prices(by glass or bottle) are a little higher than others on the street but consistent with the quality of the food and service. We did not sample the desserts, which included coconut ice cream and an apple strudel with vanilla ice cream.
