Really enjoyed this restaurant. Great ambience and attentive staff. They have a full menu for food. A limited wine list but we survived. We had ravioli and gnocchi dishes. Both were outstanding.

We tried this place recently after friend raved about it, and we are so glad we did. The gnocchi was the best I’ve had, like little clouds of joy. We will definitely be back often.

YUM! This quaint and rustic little Italian gem is just up Devonport’s main street, boasting a diverse menu of great value. I took my girlfriend there for a special occasion dinner, and we loved it. Their antipasto platter is fantastic, everything you’d want from cured meats and cheeses to olives and an amazing preserve. For mains we chose the canneloni [a bit dry in the meat, but still tastes delicious] and the breaded veal scallopini with baked mozzarella and eggplant. The veal was incredible. We also had the joy of BYOW, an Italian chianti from Wine Direct [check them out in Ponsonby/Parnell]. The wait staff was also very warm and friendly, I was eager to leave a tip. We’ll be back!

The Greek place next door might be my favourite restaurant, but Buona Sera is right up there on my list too! It’s in the same building as Nicolinos, so that means the same intimate scale, same exposed brick walls, similar rustic charm. The menu however is proudly Italian, and there’s all sorts of treats you’ve no doubt tried elsewhere. I doubt however if you’ve had them this well made before — this is a cut above the garden variety Italian place. Grabbed a lovely chicken dish cooked in tomato and red wine sauce and it was divine — very generous portion too and reasonably priced. As a bonus, our waiter was frankly the man — won’t find many kinder.
