This review is for the coffee only. Gasket on the 3 occasions I’ve been have only one roast to choose from and that is even called ‘2nd crack’. Roasting a bean to 2nd crack might work well for milk-based coffee but IMO it’s too far if you want an espresso with discernable origin notes. Other than the coffee Gasket is good, friendly staff, food looks great. Good choice for meetings too.

Strong yet silky smooth using Velvet coffee beans the barrister at Gasket knows his stuff!!! This is one amazingly cool café with big tables perfect for those business meetings. Great coffee spot with yummy looking sandwiches, although the staff weren’t that friendly and the counter girl was quite rude. Will try again, hopefully it will be her day off!

LOVETHISCAFE!!! Hidden away spot for all those southern side workers. I had the salmon salad which was amazing, so fresh with amazing vibrant flavors! The service was great, clean and fast! Shared some yummy sweet treats with the table afterwards. Will defiantly be going back soon on a sunny day so i can sit outside and soak up the sun. Highly recommend Gasket!

«Yay! I’m a fan!» perfectly encapsulates my feelings toward this fine espresso establishment. Albeit its somewhat random location(basically adjacent to Ellerslie train station), Gasket is brimming with character. Ginger latte? spot on. Warm bircher muesli topped with grated apple, raspberries, dried fruit, sliced banana & sweetened with agave? choice. The cabinet sandwiches and sweet treats looked delectable as well(they have about 10 different slice varieties so… go crazy!). The bright, airy space was buzzing with local workers while I was there. It was clear they had cleverly chosen Gasket as their«meeting» venue. …I see right through you, folks ;) Oh, and +1 for free wifi!

Who would of thought that tucked down the back of Ellerslie would be this gem of a café! Well, obviously a lot of people because when we went at 11:30am on a weekday it was choccas. From the outside Gasket Espresso Kitchen looks rather small but don’t be fooled, there’s plenty of seating inside. There’s even a private room with a large table for corporate folk to have their afternoon«meetings.» The décor is modern with concrete floors, exposed ceiling beams and white walls with feature art pieces. The vibe is friendly and relaxed — most definitely service with a smile. I ordered the lamb salad and a coffee. The lamb salad came out sans lamb but before I realised the waiter came back to rectify the situation, whisking it away to mix in the lamb. She was apologetic and to be honest, I didn’t mind — at least they had realised before I tucked in. The coffee was the perfect temperature and most importantly, not burnt or bitter. I also noticed that they also have plenty of cabinet full of both savoury and sweet delights — bagels, salads, sandwiches, slices and the like — perfect for those on the go!

A cool little café which is a bit off the beaten track in Ellerslie. The décor is kind of industrial which evokes something you might find in one of the lanes in Melbourne. Coffee is excellent here and it must have something to do with that retro machine its served from. The biggest lure of this place for me though are the salads. They do lovely fresh, healthy salads with ingredients like buckwheat and pearl couscous. My wife brought one home with buckwheat and beetroot and it was excellent. You have to get in there early as it’s popular at lunchtime and the salads sell out. It’s great to have healthy options at lunchtime instead of the usual fare of pies and burgers. My wife sometimes buys two salads in summer and takes them home and we have them for dinner.

I stumbled across this gorgeous café before a job interview in Ellerslie. The name Gasket conjured up images of a very industrial space filled with minimal fixtures, but what was inside exceeded my expectations. While the space itself is raw and stripped back, Gasket is decorated with cute formica tables, comfy mid-century armchairs and vintage fans. Gasket serves tasty Velvet coffee from a beautiful machine, but when I went there for a have-here coffee, it was served in a takeaway cup. If only they had served it up in a nice vintage cup to match their décor. Gasket is available for functions and has a newly-decorated boardroom for meetings. I would recommend this place as a cute and quirky alternative to your usual café setting. My only improvement would be some actual cups!
