Glen Eden Library is pretty good as far as libraries go. It’s in a nice new building that looks modern and not at all run down like other council-owned libraries. They have always got heaps of books in stock and it’s rare that I have to go on a waiting list, which I hate because it’s annoying. The staff are generally really nice and leave you alone to do your thing, which is what I look for in library staff, until you need their help. Inside is clean and organised, and nice and quiet. There’s heaps of parking, being in the main shopping complex in Glen Eden. There’s computers inside too.

The Glen Eden library is in a new, stylish building, and it’s a real asset to this slightly unprepossessing black of shops; it’s actually a place that locals can look forward to going to. It’s attached to the a Citizen’s Advice Bureau and meeting room, so it’s a real community hub. The librarians here really ready to help; the last time I visited I overheard one of them very patiently trying to work out exactly what book somebody was looking for when they didn’t know the title. They also have a comparatively good selection of books in languages other than English. (Just stay away from the bakery next door which I noticed had a «D grade» hygenie certificate in the window, uggh).

Great library! Love it, as it really is a blast for as much as libraries can be. I love the modern styling interiors and outside architecture. Also there is plenty of car parking space which is always handy when you’re carrying all those books. Inside is clean and organised and really calm. Making for a relaxing space perfect for reading or hours off pointless browsing. The staff are friendly and really helpful and leave you to do your thing. You can get out a mass amount if books, magazines or DVDs for a long time, at least a couple of weeks, and the late penalty fees aren’t really that harsh. The good thing is they email you way before the books are even due as a reminder, which is nice.

Spoilt for choice at our local library. Glen Eden has a good selection of books on the shelves and of course unlimited choice via the internet search system which I make full advantage of. They have DVDs at reasonable prices, a section for the children with comfortable pillows and seating if you want to spend a little quality time with the tiny tots in a comfortable space delving into the joy of books with them. Then there are the computers and online access which a lot of people take advantage of. I’ve always found the staff friendly here. A great community experience. Nice window displays too.
