I must admit after reading several reviews I was not really looking forward to eating here, especially with a large group. As buffet food goes it was OK, there was quite a choice on offer today from roast pork and ham, to noodles, fried rice, meatballs, beef curry, and a variety of vegetables. The samples I ate were cooked OK, but were a little dry and only warm. There was quite a choice of desserts too, ice cream, Pavlova, jellies, bread and butter pudding. Although I did not try myself. The general view seemed to be OK for buffet restaurant with as much as you can eat, some fellow diners got through more than two mains and two desserts. We did check the hygiene cert before eating, A grade is now displayed. I was put off my the gaming area, as I did not think it suitable for a family type restaurant.

Happy Days is one of a few buffet restaurants in Manukau City. I’m sure that at one point it was extremely popular but these days, it doesn’t quite come up in conversation when choosing somewhere to go for a meal. I think the place is just in need of a major makeover and overall revamp. The prices are pretty decent, especially for breakfast; an adult can have a buffet breakfast, including unlimited coffee and tea for $ 13.90, Wednesday to Sunday. Even if you find the quality of the food average, you really can’t beat a price like that! They have a large selection of desserts which I think crucial in a good buffet; apple crumble, good ol’ pavlova and lamingtons– classic Kiwi desserts for everyone. It’s really easy to find but parking is minimal and parking on a constantly busy Great South Road is far from ideal; I’d suggest carpooling if you’re ever to visit here. You get what you pay for and while I’d say opinions about this place are divided, give it a chance. It’s perfect for groups and this place gets busy, the staff always seem so busy, understandably, so practive a little patience(and try their seafood chowder! Delicious).
