It’s hard to find a place that is buzzing for lunch on the North Shore, some places that pop in the evening are dead in the afternoon. LA Dolce cuts their losses and closes at 2pm, is this a good tactic? I have no idea, but given its in the middle of the Rosedale commercial district I would say it’s smart. Given the early close time, I would have to say that this medium sized café is a cut above the rest, the service is fast(everyone walks like they’re being pursued by hungry patron zombies) but superbly friendly and courteous. I ordered an eggs bennie(Eggs Benedict with crispy bacon) and my other half ordered a French toast. I capped my meal with a banana smoothie. Honestly, Takapuna Beach Café still has the eggs Benedict crown, but La Dolce is chomping at their heels, the use of a hash brown was interesting and really works, the Banana smoothie was delicious, bordering on divinity. My wife’s French toast was super sweet, but that’s what you get with French toast, she enjoyed it a lot. I would highly recommend La Dolce and will be back here again.
