The problem about having tattoos(or rather, one problem about having tattoos) is that you’re not allowed to be squeamish about needles without looking like a dick. Anyone who has both been tattooed and had blood removed knows that they’re totally different experiences, but this is not obvious to the outside observer. Anyway, so I had to get some blood tests. Luckily this Labtest clinic is right at the end of my street, so I put on my toughest face and wandered down. I had a bit of a wait because it was busy, but when it was my turn the nurse who took my blood was lovely. She put me at ease with some friendly, non-intrusive chatter(mostly about my tattoos, funnily enough), and if she noticed that I didn’t look at the blood being pulled out of my arm she was nice enough not to mention it. Getting blood taken is a sucky experience, that’s just how it is, but people like her can certainly make the whole thing easier.
